6. Georgia is not that big
154 counties - only Texas (a really big state) has more.

Georgia could get by easily with 1/3 as many counties. Counties as small as Georgia has are very inefficient.

12. That was my point! Very inefficient. Of course, counties may do the
work of what we up north call "towns"...each of which report election results, in Mass there are about 300.

9. Spoiler alert: Chambliss wins
At least that's what DU has been saying for the past few weeks in defending Obama's decision to not campaign in person for Martin. Why even bother to watch the returns? :eyes:

16. Haxby...
...will win this as it seems the Dems really did not try to re-energize the Dem base down there in Georgia. The Repugs put everyone and everything in to win the seat while the Dems figured Martin would coast and that is the mistake that will cost them the Georgia Senate seat.

Even the pre-numbers coming out has Haxby dominating the numbers right now...

18. I think Obama and many Democrats felt the time for campaigning is over...
and the time for governing has begun. Especially considering the daunting challenges facing the new Obama administration -- winning in GA pales compared to making sure the transition is being done correctly.

19. Indeed
I agree with you there my friend. I think the Dems should have went after Georgia's seat considering who the needed to oust *shrugs*

The Reps are now trying to portray themselves as the party of 'checks and balances' when the Dems were ostracized for trying to do so while *ush was circumventing the Bill of Rights and the Constitution... go figure right?

20. As it is stupidly late here
I am off to bed - but I doubt I will see anything of surprise in the morning. I predict this highly Republican State will elect a Republican.

22. Chambliss has this won
With this massive of a lead with 5% in, it might not seem like much, but Martin would need turnout on the levels of the GE in counties like Fulton to win. Won't happen.
