MoveOn should coordinate a "letter of appreciation" drive to CBS
I think that it is so important that CBS knows that there is an equally motivated segment of the American population that appreciates good 'ol investigative journalism. I think that MoveOn has the "eye-ownership" to coordinate something really supportive of CBS' and Dan Rathers' pursuit of the truth.

Here was my letter:

To: Dan Rather and Staff
Re: Journalistic Integrity

I want to extend my thanks for the bold sort of
journalism that you have embraced over the past
several days. If this is the type of journalism that
had been embraced by the news media during the march
to war, then perhaps we would not be seeing the
horrible ravgages of a war whose original
justification is now dubious at best and blatant
disinformation and lies at worst.

I immensely admire you and your staff at CBS News for
the pursuit of truth. In full disclosure, I am very
much a Kerry supporter, but above all, I want to know
the truth and the American people deserve the truth,
regardless of anyone's predispositions.

Thank you,

1. I think the only ones who should respond to CBS are individual viewers

Connections to Move On or DNC (as suggested by someone earlier) could lead to the mistaken belief that CBS is working with them. They aren't, and it could cause problems with credibility. I am happy that they are honest journalists. That in of itself is what this administration fears. I let them know how important they are to our democracy.

4. Yes. Not a good idea to imply that CBS leans any particular way.
And since I believe CBS really IS unbiased, brace yourself for a story that puts a bad light on Kerry. That is truly what "fair and balanced" means.

But when it airs, I know there will be scads of posts on DU vowing never to watch CBS again or buy its advertisers products, etc., etc.

But individual posts appreciating investigative journalism is valid...to any station for any story you think was done well.

2. What we should do

I know the truth about Bush and from what I see hear and on every DEM forum or DEM sided web page i goto. Now for 4 month I have been e-mailing all the right-wing new.You know what they don't give a F@@k,
They were for Bush before Kerry and they our for Bush now and we all know that.I have been thinking how can we beat them, than tonight I thought I have been wasting my time looking at all the left-
wing sites and forums. What I think we need to do is go to right-wing
forums and tell them how wrong bush is and fight them on their own ground.
Show them the links to truth.I keep hearing people saying I'll move to Canada if Bush win,I say let fight and WIN and send the GOP to Iraq.I known you guys and girls have been doing alto and I hope I don't make anyone mad,and I don't mean to use all your time on the right-wing forum.By the way don't believe the polls if they don't keep Bush up in the polls it won't look good when they cheat with the new voting systems.
