I have been getting together some bits and pieces from various bloggers about all that was said...there were several phone conferences.

I had not seen this statement on the others. It is hard to figure out since the 50 State Staffers are gone at the end of the month.

Rather cryptic statement.

Most of the phone conferences centered on Lieberman today.

Dean also responded to questions about Democratic tactics, particularly with respect to the "50-state strategy" that he engineered. "The 50-state strategy is really an empowerment philosophy more than anything else. You can't empower people in Utah or in Texas if you don't show up there. Whatever I'm going to do next is based on empowerment and the 50-state strategy is an empowerment strategy." Dean suggested that states such as Georgia and Texas might be attractive targets for Democrats at the presidential level in 2012.

Curious and interesting. He has already resigned as chair. I just read at Open Left that the new staffers will be coming into the DNC early next month...and according to Chris Bowers there was little indication what would be done.

Chris wrote the DNC and got this response today:

Chris: I couldn't make the call, sorry about missing it. However, is there a new statement from the DNC on the future of the 50 state strategy, and word on what will happen to the organizers in the SPP ?

DNC: There's no indication officially about the 50 state strategy, though Obama's people seem very committed to it and want to keep it going and all the signs are encouraging.

The SPP staffers contracts run out at the end of the month and we're being helpful to people who are SPP staffers who are communicating with us or looking to come to Washington, though they all have picked up a lot of skill sets and it's the best time to look for work in Democratic politics in my lifetime. After the new chairs come in, early next month some may likely pick up the staffers as part of their team or restart the SPP part of the program.

Most are pretty sure Dean won't be part of the new administration because he stood up to Republicans too much, which is a shame....but that's the way the cookie crumbles politically.

Whatever he's going to do is "based on empowerment."

That sounds good.
