Kos says it best as always...
"In the spirit of post-partisanship, and in spite of the American people's overwhelming votes for change in 2006 and 2008, let's appoint fierce global warming critic James Inhoffe to the Environment and Public Works committee!

Shit, that wouldn't be any worse than appointing fierce Obama critic and Iraq War supporter Joe Lieberman to the Homeland Security committee.

But in all seriousness, I think we've now learned that Joe Lieberman is the smartest politician in DC. He knew Democrats were spineless capitulators who would cave at the merest threat no matter how many times he shit in their face.

He's probably having a great laugh about it just about now.

Given how much he is hated by his constituents, he at least knows that the Senate Democratic caucus are a bunch of spineless asses utterly unwilling and unable to deliver the change the American people requested."

3. Joe didn't have to be smart to know Dems are spineless. All of us DUmmies know that.
What we've witnessed is a Senate that lives within the secure realm of the Ruling Class and cares more about that class's issues than anything else.

4. I'm thinking Jomentum has some surprises in his future.
Call me a cockeyed optimist, but I trust President Obama. I believe he knows what he's doing and he'll wipe that smug smile off Lieberman's face shortly after January 20, 2009.

Hope springs eternal!

Because I agree. Obama said he "doesn't hold a grudge" which to me implies he's giving Lieberman a pass for being offensive to him. Obama has the upper hand in this, and I'm sure he isn't going to stand for any more monkey business.

I'm all for letting Obama actually start his job before we critique his team choices. There's not one of us who can say what the dynamics will be in DC when Obama's team really starts rolling. I'm actually delightfully curious about this! This is really different, isn't it? Umm... I think it's called "change." Yeah! That's it!

16. Yes and yes! Thank you! Me, I have goose bumps when I consider the future.
And absolutely, Obama should be allowed to pick his team and get to work. I sense that he knows what he's doing and his intelligence, intellect, common sense, wisdom, and scope of knowledge are incredible. Considering what the last 8 years have wrought, I want to cheer and yes, cry tears of joy.

Keep the change coming!

7. The Joe Problem goes back to his reelection campaign and the DNC inaction...
Joe lost the Democratic Primary, and ran AGAINST THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE by becoming a separate independent party of one!

So what did the DNC and Democratic Leaders do? They failed to fully support the winning Democratic Nominee, and some went out on the campaign trail and campaigned for JOE against the Democratic Nominee.

You can blame the constituents who reelected Joe on the general election ballot, but the DNC deserves their fair share of the blame for creating the Joe Monster.

I always believed that Gore would have won if he had chosen almost anyone other than Leiberman, who basically rolled over and made Cheney look moderate in their debate. Then Leiberman stepped out on his own and stated all military ballots should be counted whether they were voted before or after the election was held, or signed, or witnessed, etc.

8. Good people of Connecticut, please do what our leadership will not.
I know it's quite some time before he's up for re-election, but we need to get to work on this now. He MUST be defeated next election cycle. Only you can fix what our leadership is too impotent to.

17. All this does is empower and enable DINO's that cross over- and will cross over again
because they realize that there's no accountability or price to pay for doing so.

Anyone expecting meaningful progressive reform to come out of the Senate- given the apparent retention of all bark no bite Harry Reid in place- along with the Liebermann coddling will going to be sorely disappointed.

Appeasment doesn't work with the far right- never has, never will.

Sad that, even after all these years of dealing with Republicran and DINO behavior, Democratic leaders still REFUSE to learn that very basic lesson.

It's gotten to the point of being pathetic.

20. I've been hearing on NPR
that there will be a proposal for a vote to throw him out of the Democratic party soon in CT. So, at least some in CT have his number.

I still think that "what goes around, comes around", and, I suspect that Lieberman will experience this in the not so distant future.

so how can anyone throw him out?

And how does god, er, Kos, know that his constituents hate him?
