I'm a recent arrival here, but I've already seen a staggering amount of exchanges with charges against candidates and (attempts to) debunk/counter them. Quite a few appear repetitive, but still...
And that brought me to a naive idea: why not set up a database-type place, where (documented/reasoned) charges against candidates can be entered, as well as their (documented/reasoned) responses, so that the resulting collective effort can be searched and retrieved more easily?
I mean something that would fit between a message board (like this) with its open, collaborative nature, and a more-or-less static website (like
this) where "easy to use" is the key. With the tremendous amount of doodoo that is going to hit the fan during this campaign, that seems like a useful thing.
Not to promote a brainless "cut and paste" mindset, but to help cut to the chase efficiently and save gobs of time (and irritation) so as to free the mind for creative debate... Something like that.
Above all, I'm thinking about something where supporters of
all Democratic stripes can turn to, for answers / information / submissions. I don't think keeping it "editorially clean and coherent" is
that much work (with a few helping hands) and technologically, I think it's doable, too.
Is that a silly idea, or something that already exists? In the hypothetical case of a double "no" there, maybe something to explore...
Just running it up the flagpole here :)
Edited to clarify title and add the following:I do
not mean an alternative to what already exists (such as DU - dôh!) but something that complements it
