Poll question: What do you think about Obama reaching across the aisle?

Keep in mind the filibuster and being three senators shy of the needed 60 to filibuster proof the vote.

1. To accomplish what?
We have a lot of problems to fix. For the last 20 years (at least) the GOP has been the cause of these problems, not the solution. If the GOP wants to "reach across the isle" to help us pass some fucking legislation and really fix something, then great.

If they want to continue obstructing progress, then "reaching across the isle" is futile, and I hope Obama doesn't waste any time on it.

3. We'll see. Here is what the GOP will try to do...
If the Dems refuse a "compromise" that does not move us forward, the GOP will say "you are not reaching across the isle." The question is, will Obama or the congress Dems have the fortitude to stop playing that bullshit game, and redefine what "reaching across the isle" really means, in a productive way?

4. Reaching out to listen is not a bad thing. Reaching out and compromising the result
for the sake of unity is bullshit.

Either what we want is right or it is wrong. Diluting it to win a consensus instead of pushing a more extreme version that ekes by is a losing strategy.

An example... Dems think black citizens should be able to vote. Pukes do not. We reach across the aisle and settle for blacks getting to vote as 4/5 of a citizen. Did we "win" that argument since it is more than 50%?

I don't think so.
