I really thought we were gonna win that one despite it being a R+15 district since the previous congressman (Dolittle) was virtually frog marched off to jail. McClintock is a real a**hole and didn't even live in the district. Tough loss unless a recount pulls it out. Maybe there are more ballots to be counted. I don't know.

On edit: more on this one from Oroville newspaper:

"Tom McClintock and Charlie Brown may not know who has won the District 4 congressional seat until Thanksgiving.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting this morning, Republican McClintock led by a mere 451 votes out of more than 310,000 votes cast. However, several thousand ballots remained to be counted. Each county must check provisional ballots and late absentee ballots dropped off at the polls Tuesday before they can be counted, a process that can take weeks.

The candidates are looking to fill the seat currently held by Rep. John Doolittle, R-Roseville, in a historically conservative district."
