the man who made it possible

despite the rude ugliness directed at him during this election
despite the betrayal of principle by some that tried to end his career when they couldnt force him to abandon the rules

thanks howard
besides obama you are the democrat most responsible for this win

2. No doubt. His pioneering example in Internet fundraising in 2004, coupled with...
his 50-state strategy as DNC chairman mirrored the fundraising and organizing of the Obama campaign.

5. Who funded the 50-state strategy,
whose staff went to the Obama campaign, who endorsed after NH, who fought every time a smear hit...

Some of us know who really needs to be thanked.

18. from the newsweek article about inside gossip
On the night she officially lost the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton enjoyed a long and friendly phone conversation with McCain. Clinton was actually on better terms with McCain than she was with Obama. Clinton and McCain had downed shots together on Senate junkets; they regarded each other as grizzled veterans of the political wars and shared a certain disdain for Obama as flashy and callow.

wonder what they were talking about?

19. they were probably exchanging jokes about getting beat by Obama -
the same gallows humor that lawyers exchange with each other after a hard fought trial.

21. They both deserve praise, and it's not revisionist to say so.
Obama's campaign did remind me of the 50 state strategy, and Kerry did endorse at a critical time. All three would have praise for each other, I'm sure. Dean's style and Obama's go together, and Kerry was a terrific support person.

Let's not fight over pieces of pie here. Everyone who worked on this campaign deserve a slice, from the Chairman through Obama to the lowliest canvasser who walked their feet down to the nubs to get Obama elected. I personally saw three people limping around yesterday, but they kept going.

So let's not fight over something so stupid as who should get more credit than someone else. Many had a role.

Personally, if we're going to do some shouting out, I'd also like to shine a spotlight on David Plouffe, Obama's campaign manager, the one who took the 50 state strategy and honed it to a fine point.

Years ago when someone would say "The Doctor"
I always thought of Dr. Who.

But now, I think of Howard Dean. ;)

Hats off to The Doctor!

11. The only people more responsible are Obama and the Davids
Dean plotted the strategy and put the Repukes back on their heels. Team Obama adopted, adapted, improved and finished the job.

Governor Dean is one of the truly great Democrats of the last thirty years and unquestionably one of the smartest MFers in the room.

16. Only 2 teeny-tiny bits of disappointment last night
1. No thank-you shout-out to Dr. Dean
2. Michelle's dress did NOT read well on the teevee (sorry)

But that influences my joy by about 1/1000th of a percent, if that

24. I am sure it wasn't a slight
on Dean. I am guessing he was just thanking his main braintrust (i.e. Pfoffe, Axelrod, etc) of his campaign.

I am think the Obama campaign knows who the real deals are.

25. Howard deserves big credit; so does Plouffe, Obama, literally Millions of us who contributed,
knocked on doors, made phone calls, 'converted' neighbors, relatives, co-workers, friends... it was a hell of an effort. Maybe the best ever.
