Waking up in blue Ohio...

Hey, Ohio. Hey Florida. Hey Virginia, Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. How %#$@ing good does this feel???

This morning I'm pretty sure I look like this guy: :hangover:

But I feel like this guy: :headbang:

2. Well, I'm still in dumb red Texas
But Dallas County went blue, and my own precinct did, so I suppose it's not as hopeless as it could be.

I don't drink, but look and feel like I got run over by a semi because of all my crying. I can't imagine how the hungover among us must feel this morning!

Hey DTBK!

If TX had gone blue there would have been many jaws broken from hitting the floor. ;)

Glad you live in a little blue pocket though -- and we ALL live in a blue country!!! :woohoo:

6. I feel awesome!
I'm slightly hung-over, didn't get to sleep until 4:00AM and exhausted from working the polls yesterday.

BUT I FEEL LIKE A MILLION BUCKS!! This is a new day - a new country!!!

I wasn't going to miss going into my office today. My smile and grin tells all the story I need. Four years ago, people were lined up out my office to get a few digs in at me. Four years later - my turn is here and I'm just smiling.

74. History's headed our way
With the growing Hispanic and black vote, the next election we may be talking about Georgia, Arizona and Texas as swing states. Wouldn't that kick ass? :D Time will bring the blue to Red state America. It's just a matter of hanging in there until the religious righties lose their pull......

I stayed up too late, got up too early, and need to be doing my homework for today's class. And yet, I just can't concentrate on anything else. We helped elect Barack Obama.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

11. I was working at polls in ward 12

(East of High St between 670 and 11th Ave) and there were no lines to speak of! People waited ~45 mins or an hour first thing in the morning when the polls opened -- after that it was really smooth, maybe waiting 10 mins!!! I think it was the early voting, and the wonderful Jennifer Brunner actually distributing the voting machines in a *fair* manner! :D

28. Hmmm - good question.
Of the siblings I'll see tonight, I think my sister will be irritated. She thinks she's the only one who knows anything and anyone who doesn't agree with her is wrong. Hard to say with my brother. He used to be more liberal and has really become a one issue voter (abortion). So I think he will be more understanding of the excitement and hope this election brought.

Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 10:21 AM by arewenotdemo
I was getting slightly nervous while McCain was ahead here (northern VA vote was still out) and the crew at NBC (Todd mainly) was acting as if something was up.

Then OHIO got called...and I knew it was over. I couldn't believe it.

I've taken a lot of heat for hailing from there. Bush state twice and home to the nation's most famous serial killers. ;-)

Major redemption.

73. May those responsible for the election fraud in Ohio in 2004 FINALLY be
exposed and brought to justice. Now the blue can finally shine through - there was too large a margin to steal it this time, though they did try with massive purging of the voter registration rolls as well as their other tricks.

In NE Ohio - We're usually pretty blue up here in the Cleveland area, but it was incredible to see my fellow Ohioans get on board with OBAMA!! :toast:

I had walked away from my TV and came back and asked DH - "Is Ohio BLUE right now?!?" I was STUNNED it was called so early. I KNEW right then that it was over for Grandpa and Caribou Barbie! No WAY he could win without Ohio and PA! :headbang:

His victory speech made me cry. Especially when he talked about his beautiful daughters.

Icing on the cake when I got to see Scarbourgh and Carlson whine this morning. Damn they look sad! :bounce:

68. I *loved* it!!!

Meant to email you but too much going on in my poor feeble brain. ;)

We passed out the stickers at the party last night. It was awesome! Between that, maps to color in, and water balloons to throw at the screen, it was like a party for little kids!

:loveya:

70. Yay!
I figured you would hand them out at the party. There were so many!

It sounds like you all had quite a time! And the weather held very nicely, too.

What a great night it was!

72. That's so cool!
If there were any of the stickers that you gave away that you wanted for yourselves, I still have another sheet of them. I can drop them at your desk when I pick ZI up from work today.

77. I am from a Deep Blue State
Where the Blue Governor was re-elected. :headbang:

It looked for a while there during the campaign that Rossi would take it, but Gregoire did it, and hopefully we've seen the last of that moron Rossi. :7

And yeah, to my brothers in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina (it's going to a recount, but Obama has a 11,000 vote lead), Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada - yeah, it must feel some muthaf**king good. I know I look like hell, and I honestly don't give a shit. :headbang: WE just did a good thing yesterday.

The Hoosier state went blue!! My family there were texting me all night. They said they wanted to see it blue and one said "Even though it doesn't matter now..." I told her it DOES matter, it matters A LOT>
