"....failure to meet annual physical examination" ?????????
Maybe I'm just a nitpicker but is "failure to meet" the same as "failure to take"??? Could this not be interpreted that he took it and failed? Then he refused to take it again? Ergo, he failed to "perform to USAF/TexANG standards"? Has anyone asked this question? It seems to me that "failure to meet" and "failure to take" are not the same thing?? Did Dubya fail the drug test?
====================================================

"On this date I ordered that 1st Lt. Bush be suspended from flight status due to failure to perform to USAF/TexANG standards and failure to meet annual physical examination ... as ordered,” says an Aug. 1, 1972 memo by Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, who is now dead."

1. I've always thought that he just was a no-show
but you've got a point. Really the same thing in my book, as I find i the drug use a pretty obvious reason for his failing to go. But I wouldn't be shocked if it came out that he had failed it...actually I'd be overjoyed! ;)

where is the truth?

4. He refused to take the drug test?
That was the order he disobeyed?

3. Couldn't the "..." be "requirements" or something like that?
As in, he failed to meet the requirements since he didn't show.

7. Possibly, since the commander said he would "backdate" it but....
would not put information into the report that was not factual? Now why woud it need to be "backdated"? So it could be made to look legitimate? What would that be? He missed his duties and needed to have it backdated to appear he was there?? So many questions from the world's greatest bullshit artist...

6. Interesting
because it appears there are two issues.

"... due to failure to perform to USAF/TexANG standards AND failure to meet annual physical examination ..."

So what were the standards he didn't live up to?

10. Yea, that's what I think too, kentuck
your thought that maybe he failed an inital physical is a possibility.

8. Yes, they needed to be clearer on this
What precisely are those standards he "failed to perform" and did he simply blow off or did he fail his physical? They should have had someone from the NG to explain the wording and to specify those standards.

11. He refused to take the physical, because he was loaded with coke.
He should have been busted.
