With The Outrageous Smears Being Spread - Is McCain Trying To Provoke An Assassination Attempt?
McCain toned down the rhetoric slightly when his rallies became hate fests filled with people spewing violent threats against Obama, and epithets towards nearby minorities. However, in the last 2 days, the McCain camp has pulled out the stops with new sleaze designed to insight the hate, and motivate the racists to go to the polls. Heck, Randall Terry of Operation Rescue was actively saying that Obama must be stopped by any means necessary.

In the footage, Randall Terry is seen nearby shouting into a megaphone, “We must do whatever it takes to stop Obama!” A Terry associate wearing a Palin t-shirt hands out fliers urging anti-abortion advocates to organize against Obama’s election. While the Political Cesspool organizer expresses no support for McCain-Palin, and seems reluctant to divulge his show’s racist politics, Terry seems openly supportive of the McCain-Palin campaign.

So, in waning days of the election, is McCain trying to promote a violent attack on Obama or Obama supporters? Afterall, if a person really believes the smears that Obama is a terrotist, muslim, marxist, baby-killer, etc.," and that they "must do whatever it takes to stop Obama," then such people are liable to do some pretty crazy things.

2. Then Why Push Negative Ads If...

It undercuts McCain's image, and has also caused his poll numbers to tank due to blowback when he tried this earlier in October? Obama's lead appears to be growing. You would think a message that is more responsive to the needs of voters would be in order.

3. You push negative ads if you have no positive message. Also, negative ads just WORK.
If "he's got to be stopped" type statements spawned assassination attempts, we'd all be choking to death on gunpowder fumes.

5. Your Mistaken Assumption - All Negative Ads Are Created Equally
Obama's negative ads, such as the one's tying McCain to Bush, are fact based, and do not resort to ad hominem attacks. The consensus is that McCain's over the top stuff is turning off independents. Yet, McCain has gotten more extreme. It is overly simplistic to justify McCain's strategy by saying "negative ads work," because it assumes that ALL negative ads are effective. As McCain-Palin rallies show, the ads seems to incite hatred and violent outbursts among those who are already voting for McCain.

4. I think its the logical byproduct of his smear and hate campaign
and he should KNOW that would result, but proving he INTENDED that result is impossible.
