Republican "Socialism" - Let Me Count The Ways
Now, as to this silly Republican "socialism" malarkey that is gaining about as much traction with the electorate as molasses sliding uphill in the winter, here's what we need to say (as I did to one little pipsqueak RePuke today: "Hey ignoramus, let me tell you about Republican "socialism" :

1) Lincoln - first federal income tax

2) Teddy Roosevelt - strong advocate of progressive taxation, industry regulation, and land
conservation

3) Eisenhower - huge expansion of public infrastructure and powerful critic of "military
industrial complex" (also a harsh critic of the Republican "right wing" which in
his day was the party fringe rather than the party mainstream of today)

4) Nixon - founded the EPA, advocated expansion of access to
healthcare, started methadone drug re-hab programs, etc.

5) Ford/Reagan - began/expanded earned income tax credit, one of the most progressive
tax policies we have

6) Bush #1 - Americans With Disabilities Act, other new civil rights laws, went back on
"no new taxes pledge" etc.

7) Bush #2 - No Child Left Behind law, prescription drug bill, tons of no-bid contracts,
Bear Stearns bailout, banking industry bailout, etc.

Huge general Republican "socialism" policy: taxpayer subsidies for a range of industries from sugar makers to oil companies already making HUGE profits

Moral of the story: The right wing is DELUSIONAL if they actually think they can come anywhere near trying to paint Democrats as "socialists" merely because they support a progressive taxation policy. It is silly, goofy, senseless, hypocritical, typical right wing propaganda nonsense and nothing more. SO SLAM THEM ON IT AND WATCH THEIR MOUTHS DROP LIKE MY REPUKE'S DID TODAY. THOUGHT HE'D BEEN HIT BY FUCKING FREIGHT TRAIN WHEN I SAID REAGAN'S EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT POLICY WAS "SOCIALISM".
