4. I heard that the Gay supports him too...
First we had "The Gay"...now we have "The Deaf".

There's a whole collection of very powerful individuals that I never even knew about...

6. I Love You Too, Mr. President!
My sister, who died after Leukemia took her life and radiation caused her to go deaf, would have supported Obama. I only wish she could have lived this long to see the ILY sign flashed by President #44.

8. Don't let the Freepers get their hands on that picture
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 06:30 PM by Sebastian Doyle
They'll confuse it with the similar "HAIL SATAN" sign often used by Chimpy......

10. "support", not "supports"
"The Deaf" would mean more than one person...and why not just say "deaf people"? It would avoid confusion.

11. Interesting factiod to ponder:
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 06:53 PM by boppers
For deaf people, English is a second language. The conventions and "grammar" of ASL (American Sign Language) are entirely different from English, and in the age of internet and TXT'ing, your average young deaf American learns 3 fairly different languages at the same time...

Compare the OP's image, (in this language, it's a simple finger arrangement), with the phrase "I Love You", and the TXT "I <3 U"... three different languages.

edit: typo

18. Some people
who consider themselves culturally Deaf use "Deaf" and see themselves as a community with a shared language and history.

Saying "deaf people" is a reference only to people who cannot hear.

They're not the same thing.

Wow. I never thought I see that picture from Obama. I know that sign because I am Hard of Hearing person. I can't believe he did that. Cool! :) Anyway, yes that is true about deaf people know English as 2nd language. I met deaf people when I was in Illinois and Rochester, NY. Some of deaf people are having hard time to understand English grammar. I, myself, can read English very well, but sometimes hard time to understand the grammar. I took English college level. It was hard for me.

I could not believe what Obama said on the picture. :)

I will vote Tuesday for him from Lady Lake, FL in Lake County. I know it is red county, but I will cancel one vote against McSame.

Greg
