http://www.electoral-vote.com/

This map adds up all the blue states and gives Obama 353 electoral votes.

The solid blue states are those where Obama has at least a 10 point lead in the polls. If I take way the other blue states, Obama has 264 electoral votes.

353-89=264

So he needs only 6 to win the presidency.

2. The way I'm looking at it is
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 09:34 AM by Gman
Obama has solid leads in all the state Kerry won. That is worth 252 EV's. He also has solid leads in NM and IA worth 12 EV's. That's a total of 264. Now he needs to pick up only one of VA, OH, NC, FL, or CO. Any one of which is worth more than 7 EV's. To me, the most likely is CO, but I hope we don't have to wait that long.

If by some strange quirk McCain wins PA (21 EV's) that takes him down to 231 + 12 for IA and NM for 253 and he has to make up 18 EV's from the above mentioned states and it's going to be a long night and he probably won't win because McCain has the momentum. Obama can lose OH, but cannot lose PA. That's why McCain has been spending so much time in PA.

But we're saying the same thing.
