State declares Obama birth certificate genuine
duh .. I know ... but it's freaky friday, so ...

HONOLULU – State officials say there's no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.

Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Friday she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

Fukino says that no state official, including Republican Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama's certificate be handled differently.

She says state law bars release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who does not have a tangible interest.

Some Obama critics claim he was not born in the US.

Earlier Friday, a southwest Ohio magistrate rejected a challenge to Obama's citizenship. Judges in Seattle and Philadelphia recently dismissed similar suits.

1. This is obviously more of the cover-up.

When will these wingnuts learn?

13. Obviously the whole "sick grandmother" story was a ploy
to get out to Hawaii and put some muscle on some Honolulu bureaucrat. Union thugs were employed, I'm sure.

2. I think it is interesting that the suits are being dismissed on the grounds that
those who filed them did not have sufficient grounds to sue. Basically, it says they are not being harmed so they can't sure. Who, then, could sue? If a citizen cannot sue to stop a non citizen from running, who can? What is Arnold decided to go ahead and run in 2012 and he wins the Republican nomination. Can any of us say, "Wait. That is unconstitutional"?

4. His country of origin is well documented and public knowledge.
I don't think we'd see the same result.

My prediction for 2012:

Huckabee or Crist will be the Republican standard bearer (that is if they aren't still being total idiots in 2012)

Doug D.

14. Crist is gay
according to much reasonably reliable DU gossip, and issued an order to keep FL polls open additional hours. The RW ain't gonna forgive him for either. Otherwise he'd be formidable. Which is exactly why the kooks won't nominate him.

3. By the way, does the Canal Zone elect its own president?
Just joshing here. I'm not one to doubt that McCain is perfectly well qualified to be president.

5. Mmm not so much
in 1936 was the son of a second-generation Admiral really born in a military hospital? on a Navy base?

If it was "on the economy" in their private residence (very likely) he is not qualified.

7. Sorry, but the child of an American citizen is an American citizen by birth
If it's a gray area because of some archaic legal phrasing, the choice of the people really shouldn't be fucked with.

Fortunately the election this year will render this question moot.

15. So which of McCain's parents' birth certificates have we seen?
I notice Hawaii's officials aren't vouching for the authenticity of the birth certificates of McCain's parents. Why not? It's kind of suspicious, isn't it? And why is his middle name a city in Australia? Why didn't they name him John Poughkeepsie McCain? Makes you think, doesn't it? What is he hiding? Maybe he was really born in Australia ...
