My Obama Halloween

We were inundated with kids this year. Lived in this house for 12 years and never had more than 20 kids. This year, I think we had 50! All really cute, very polite...impressive. I have my Obama sign in the flower bed near the house. After putting my Kerry signs near the street in 2004 and having them repeatedly stolen, I wasn't about to take a chance this year.

First trick-or-treaters were the next-door neighbors with their three-year old twins. Bill sees my Obama sign, smacks his forehead and says, "I forgot to wear my "Photographers for Obama" button!" and runs back across the yard to get it out of his car. Cool!

A few minutes later, three impressive trick-or-treaters come down the sidewalk. First is the most realistic Grim Reaper I've ever seen, followed by a military commando of some kind and...get this...a "businessman" - little short kid dressed in a blue suit, fedora, and carrying a briefcase. Too funny! They get to the bottom of my driveway, see the sign and start pumping their fists and yelling "O-BA-MA!! O-BA-MA!!!" all the way up the driveway. After I give them their candy, they all say thank you, then the Grim Reaper says, "And thank YOU for supporting Barack Obama!", and they go back down the driveway and down the street..."O-BA-MA!!! O-BA-MA!!!!..."

2. I live in east Tn

and tonight a really cute little black boy was trick or treating dressed in a suit with a flag pin. My husband hollered for me to come and see him and I started clapping and giving the thumbs up to him and his mother (that was at the end of the driveway). How cool is that? A little while later a man came with his son that had on a McCain mask and my husband commented how scary that was. The father laughed and said "We couldn't think of anything scarier". This is in a very conservative part of the state. It made my halloween!

I called my mom to tell her about the little Obama boy because she lives right down the road. Knowing her and my dad,they will give all the candy to this one kid.:headbang:

3. I had my "campaign-o-lantern" out, and answered the door

to hear this... "GIVE ME AN O, "O", GIVE ME B, "B", etc, and it was fantastic.. those kids received two treats...
When they left, one of the moms said "what do we say?" to which I (and the kids!) said GO 'BAMA!!!

4. Good to hear we have the support of the underworld.....

.... I expect we'll win it by 20 points!

5. We live in a very red rural valley of a red county... but it has been heartening

this season as the trick or treaters walk up our past our Obama and other political signs.

After they thank us for the candy many have loudly thanked us for voting for Obama!

You'd have to have lived here to understand how amazing this is in this place.
