anyone see the heckler at Kerry's speech?
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 10:35 AM by G_j
unfortunately the man next to him appeared to get overly rough with the guy. I think we all need to be careful and really keep the high ground in these situations. That didn't really look so good.
Any other impressions? It all went by very quickly.

1. Exactly, The media will make huge stories of any incidents
where Kerry supporters get violent.
They are waiting for this sort of thing to happen.
We should treat them with love and respect, something they don't expect and don't want from a bunch of liberals.

4. my own opinion
let the guy briefly say his piece and then very diplomatically ask him to sit down or leave. Experienced security personnel can also handle these people without appearing overly rough.

10. Let us not forget the asshole who KICKED the protester at the RNC
and then immediately denied it to a reporter. Sounds like a true republican following in their leaders footsteps. Lie, Lie Lie.

that is why I was wondering if anyone else saw it.

To me it looked somewhat rough. It kind of looked like he grabbed him by the head. He didn't hit him or anything, and I seriously doubt if anyone was hurt.

7. Yep. MSNBC just showed it. Close-up and ugly.
The reporter (Carl Kintinea - sp?) said something that sounded like the heckler is/was a law enforcement officer who had worked for the Bu$h campaign in 2000. Anybody else hear that? I wasn't paying that much attention to the audio.

Our guys looked like GOP goons the way they jumped on the heckler. On the other hand, maybe they are spring-loaded to prevent another RFK tragedy.

I haven't seen the footage but that is how you have to deal with people like that. Aside from the disruption they could very well be a threat or a decoy.

The people are taking care of the problem. Not waiting for security, just dealing with it.
Beautiful! I see a direct parallel to media distortion, and the *'s upcoming loooooong vacation.
We the people have the power to make this happen. Canvass your neighbors friends and we'll show * the door just like his sad angry apologist in the photo above.
Got to love these beautiful strong righteous men.

We let them voice their opinions and we can't get within 8 blocks of the shrub and his "free speech" zones. Check under his shirt for a bush tee then, Beat em and throw him back into the crowd. I AM TIRED OF THIS! They don't play by the rules and we shouldn't either. We are scared to death of looking bad? How bad are we gonna look in another four years of the shrub?

22. This reminds me of something that happened when I was a boy
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 12:17 PM by John_H
A close reletive of mine was a Democratic Party functionary in Chicago. One election day, the Republicans sent "poll watchers" into a couple of African American precincts. Th men, dressed in detective-like dark suits and sun glasses, wrote every voters' name in a little notebook as they came to vote.

After getting a call from the precinct captains, my reletive contacted the Pipefitters local. Within a half an hour a few very large men were standing directly in front to the "pollwatchers" glaring at them. Other very large men were out in the parking lot "admiring" the pollwatchers' cars, recording the plate numbers, etc. The rethugs were gone in 20 minutes.

I wonder if it was a coincidence that a couiple of big Sheet metal Workers were seated next to the "heckler."

27. Disrupt is the GOP strategy these days.
I watched a grown woman, a supporter of Chuck Floyd (running on the GOP ticket in Maryland), try to block a child carrying a Chris Van Hollen for Congress sign in a Labor Day parade. She jostled the kid along the road in front of crowds of spectators. The child was probably around 10 and wasn't having any of it.

Chuck Floyd (make a spoonerism out of THAT name) has also announced plans to attend a Swift Boat Veterans for Truth rally at the Capitol. If you look at Floyd's website, you will find a link to that "Kerry lied" site.

The word is that Floyd doesn't want to use the Republican label on his website, thus obscuring his party affiliation.

I predict that Chris Van Hollen will rip off Floyd's posterior and hand it to him on November 2nd.

31. In NC yesterday John Kerry made a point of saying that.....
His questioners are not "pre-screened". He also said at the very begining of his speech that our crowd did not have to sign loyalty pledges! The general public is not aware of these two major facts. I hope he stresses it at every campaign stop. Sooner or later the press will have to cover it.

33. I was there - if you are referring to Canonsburg...
They couldn't kick the guy out because he lived there. And while most of the Bushies were incredibly rude and obnoxious ... the Kerry supporters generally took the high road and chose to ignore them. Kerry handled it unbelievably well. I was so impressed, especially since I was just about ready to hike my 110 lb butt up into their yard with a riding crop and some duct tape on his behalf. I, for one, cannot wait until debate time. This man is so good on his feet that there will be nothing left of GW. And if someone did rough that guy up, it was probably his own neighbor who has to be harboring a long grudge just for having to live next to such an idiot.
