Chuck Todd: NV not safe for Obama anymore
He said that at one time it was safe for Obama but all the polls now do not show that anymore...is this right?

1. Whatever.
Over 50% of NV has already voted. And, it looks like more than 50% were Dems. The polls tightening in the Early Voting Swing states is not going to change the outcome.

2. Wow, there goes dennis4868 with more bad poll news for Obama...what a surprise
dennis4868 has only ONE type of post on DU: bad poll news for Obama. There is no other kind of dennis 4868 post.

9. Hello Again...
I was just asking? What's wrong with that. I had thought Obama had a comfortable lead in NV and was suprised to hear Chuckles make that statement....what is with you?

14. Nevada is clearly in Obama's category
Chuck Todd is usually pretty good, but he's off-base here. Even CNN has moved Nevada into Obama's category and they tend to be more careful about moving toss-up states. The reality is that early voting turnout has been huge in Nevada and the Democrats are outvoting the Republicans 53% to 30% in this state.

3. Unless he has information we don't, the polls and early voting still look very good (links).

4. NV was never in the bag for Obama.
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 08:11 AM by Schulzz
Polls were tied there for a long time, Obama pulled ahead in the last weeks. But just because not every has him up by double-digits, does not mean McCain is winning there...

Am I the only one, who loves the polling average trend?

11. When McCain is up by +2, it's red. If Obama is up +2, it's a tossup.
Typical MSM bullsh*t to favor the Republicans.

16. They're unknowingly helping Obama
They want to pretend that it's a close horse race. Also, Obama wants to pretend that it's close so that voters won't get complacent.

7. Huh? It has NEVER been more safe.
If he wants to argue that it's not safe, then fine. But, according to RCP, Obama has his largest lead(+7.0) to date.

17. Ummmm...the exact opposite is true...
Like many people, I've been watching the Nevada polls.

About a month ago, Nevada was tied. Then during the past three weeks, Obama has been
ahead (anywhere from 1-3 points). Because of your post, I checked Nevada today, and
Obama has a 7-point lead. His biggest lead since the campaign began.

Maybe you misunderstood Chuck?

Thanks to your post--I feel extra warm and fuzzy--because it made me look up that
Nevada poll--and we've never been this far ahead.

SWEET!

18. Nevada is not a necessary route to 270
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 08:21 AM by nyhuskyfan
As long as we hold on to the Kerry states, Iowa and New Mexico (which all seem safe), we only need one more state to go our way and there's plenty of choices: Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Nevada (gets us 269), North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri. Even McCain leans like Georgia and Arizona are closer than Nevada.

25. Again...
I am not nervous...sheesh...I was shocked to hear Chuck Todd say this because I was just over at RCP and NV looks for Obama...I was wondering if there was some new poll that came out that I did not know about and was not yet posted over at RCP.

Sorry for asking a question to my fellow DUers.....The next time I have a question I will get it okayed with you...agree?

27. none of the mountain west states are "safe"
CO, NM, NV...

I still remember a recent Senate election here in Colorado where Ted Strickland was polling five points ahead of Wayne Allard with three days to go - and Allard ended up winning.

Todd does us a favor here.

29. When was it ever safe? I always looked at it as more of a bonus....
Which polls is he looking at? John King was on CNN last night saying that even the McCain staffers will tell them that they think Nevada is slipping away for them....oh well, it's McCain who really NEEDS Nevada anyway.
