Anyone have any pre-election superstitions?
I have an array of pre-game superstitions for my favorite sports team that border on neurotic. When the Pats were in the 2004 playoffs, I had brats, Lays chips and brownies for 3 straight playoff games. Was I ever sick of that crap after it was over.

Now I think I'm developing one for this election -- not voting.

I live in a deep red state so my vote won't matter. I do want to vote against Jim Inhofe in the faint hope that he might be upset, but even that is more or less a pipe dream.

At any rate I voted in my first election in 1992. Skipped 1996 because I was in college and didn't want to drive home. Voted in 2000 and 2004 and we lost. I'm torn.

I donated to Obama so I feel like I've said my peace in a different way, but I just can't see myself not at least voting even if it is merely symbolic. The other downside is my polling place is a mega church which I'm 0-2 at for prez elections which seems like bad mojo.

I feel like Richard Lewis....

7. I'm in Oklahoma, too
Listen, I know how bad it sucks to live in a red state and feel like your vote doesn't count. But you know what?

I'm still going to vote against Inhofe, even though it's futile, just for the personal satisfaction of it.

And I'm still going to vote for Obama because he's the first candidate I've ever been able to get really excited about.

So get off your Richard Lewis mope and GO VOTE, dammit! Or I'll come find your grizzled ass and give it a swift kick!

Anyway, to answer your question, I have to make sure the last campaign sign I look at before turning onto my street is Obama's and not McCain's. Which is gratifyingly easy to do in my neighborhood, since they seem to be about evenly split.

And -- call it superstition if you want -- I pray.
