Is there ANYTHING that can be done about PA Diebold machines?
I wondered when McCain started homesteading in PA while pundits, looking at the polls, suggested more probable ways for him to get the 270.

I worried as McCain began to express what one pundit called an "almost mystical" certainty he would win PA and the election.

I began to feel ill when I learned of PA's no early voting policy, no recount trail.

Today on a newscast I learned how easy it is to progam the Diebold machines to switch 10%, or any %, of votes from one candidate to another -- undetectably.

I remember 2000 -- the independent exit polling company pulled out at the 11th hour -- then after FL was called for Gore, Bush told Gore that Bush's brother Jeb had assured Bush of FL -- Bush spoke on TV with that same "mystical" confidence McCain has now -- and I knew then something was very, very wrong.

Again, I feel that something is very, very wrong. Is there ANY way we can prevent an impending "fix" of the Diebold machines?

1. I've had that same feeling about PA.
For the very reasons you do. I think they chose Palin to claim that Hillary voters were in play? I hope to goodness we have an honest election in spite of the obvious vulnerability in that state. :(

2. With no trail, nothing can be done after, I will never
understand why after incidents from the 2002, 2004, and 2006 elections combined with IT testimony and DEMONSTRATIONS of the ease of such shenanigans, nothing has been done by democrats to end this charade.

Unfortunately, without an auditable path, even if it is obvious, nothing can be done after.

You should care, and we should all demand - no matter how the election ends, that this weakness in our voting process is fixed in no uncertain terms and with no excuses.

We must find a way to steal back an auditable election system, even if the Dem's don't agree.

effort. Many individuals have gone to great lengths to try to stop this; with no help from media it has to be on the level of a mandated demand by a very large portion of the population.

Unfortunately we take our democracy far less seriously (as a whole) than the Ukrainians did when faced with election fraud. Sigh. I have written so many letters and made so many phone calls, as have so many others, that yes it is quite frustrating to be ignored in the face of mountains of evidence confirming our concerns.

18. Of course, Obama-Biden will have many, many pressing priorities, but I
hope that fixing the voting machine debacle in this country makes it on the Top Ten.

After all, it's really a Federal issue and the solution is very simple: paper trail!

11. dont' we have a Democratic governor in PA
what the hell has he been doing in the past two years after he won? Crist after winning passed meaningful legislations to change our voting system here in florida... granted- it is not perfect - but at least he tried, and we don't have those ugly paperless machines anymore

now, Rendell? He is such A JOKE.. we need a new good democrat in PA just like the Secratary of State from OHIO..

13. Yes, sort of.
If half of the voting machines in a precinct break down a paper ballot must be provided. My precinct normally has two machines - ES&S iVotronic - on hand. I'm putting my digital camera in my purse when I go to vote just in case. I can take a video with it which I plan to if anything screwy happens. I hate these damned machines.

4. I've read that the only
to successfully swing a state wide election is if it's 'close'. The more they have to steal the more obvious it is. But I'm not sure if that matters anymore.

9. What matters is what proof you have
It is a more like "do they have the balls to be so obvious". who knows.
Luckily, every state is different and if enough states are won they will not be able to steal it no matter the size or metallic nature of there dangling protuberances.

That is why we can win this time! If we fight 'till the end as if we are 20 points behind.

What we do really can matter this time! Even with "shenanigans" ;-)

7. Two sets of numbers to calm your fears

2006 Senate race:

Casey 59
Santorum 41

2006 Governor race:

Rendell 60
Swann 39

The exact same machines were in place in PA in 2006.

Clearly, they did not in 2006

1. Go back in time 2 years
2. Convince the worthless shits we elected to congress to ban DRE touch screen machines.
