James Dobson's 'Letter From 2012 in Obama's America'

James Dobson, you owe America an apology. The fictional letter released through your Focus on the Family Action organization, titled "Letter From 2012 in Obama's America", crosses all lines of decent public discourse. In a time of utter political incivility, it shows the kind of negative Christian leadership that has become so embarrassing to so many of your fellow Christians in America. We are weary of this kind of Christian leadership, and that is why so many are forsaking the Religious Right in this election.

This letter offers nothing but fear. It apocalyptically depicts terrorist attacks in American cities, churches losing their tax exempt status for not allowing gay marriages, pornography pushed in front of our children, doctors and nurses forced to perform abortions, euthanasia as commonplace, inner-city crime gone wild because of lack of gun ownership, home schooling banned, restricted religious speech, liberal censorship shutting down conservative talk shows, Christian publishers forced out of business, Israel nuked, power blackouts because of environmental restrictions, brave Christian resisters jailed by a liberal Supreme court, and finally, good Christian families emigrating to Australia and New Zealand.

1. "Churches lose tax exempt status" -- sounds like a paradise right there!
Start with the Mormon Church sticking its big stupid nose in Prop. 8 ... Tax 'em!

endorsing a concept was fair game even if it's the wrong game they are endorsing

:woohoo:

But I was pissed when he commented about Obama appointing 40 year olds to the bench who would be with us for decades to come. Hey idiot, what do you think Bush has been doing for the last 8 years? Roberts is only in his 40s, we're stuck with him running the Supreme Court for a few decades - ugh!

8. Well this last part wasn't so bad
good Christian families emigrating to Australia and New Zealand.
Apologies to our DU's from those two countries, but wouldn't they rather go Israel or are afraid to be "raptured" as they say Israel will be nuked; note I am betting Israel doesn't want them either.

The British Empire sent its criminals to Australia and its religious fanatics to America.

Americans are still wondering how Australia got first choice.

But seriesly!!! From what I've heard, American Xian boneheads would hate it in Australia. Aussies invented the useful term "god-botherer," after all.

Oz has a couple of home-grown Fundie bloviators, but most Aussies seem to just laugh at them.

–adjective causing or worthy of ridicule or derision; absurd; preposterous; laughable: a ridiculous plan.

People like Dobson are losing their sway over religious right voters. They are losing ground, helped to destroy the traditional Republican Party, and soon will have no political landscape to stand upon.

15. interesting that marriage equality is first
It's very interesting to me that the issue of equal marriage rights is the first issue that Dobson lists in his "worst fears" letter. It's as if he truly believes that is the most urgent, pressing issue facing America today. Of course, Dobson's always been a bit homocentric.

18. Dobson & co. have been pissing themselves all week
at the prospect of an Obama presidency. Their biggest fear? "zOMG, teh gays will be allowed to marry!!1!!1!" Dogbeatin' Dobson himself got all weepy this morning at being invited to some big "pray-in" that's being held this weekend in California to pray for the passage of Proposition 8. They were tears of joy that he'll be able to take his hatemongering on the road. (FTR, I'm keeping my ear on the misogynist, homophobic, fundagelical shitbags so I'll know what they're up to.)

Typical Republicans. They're all for "states' rights" as long as the states aren't doing anything they disagree with.

33. Cross off #14 - not all kids home schooled are fundie nut jobs
We not only have a few DUers who home school their kids but a few of them were homeschooled too.

I also know a family who homeschools because of serious allergies.

But I do believe there should be a standardized test that ensures homeschooled children are getting the same quality education as they would in regular school.

38. Yes, if you know where to look!
Of course, my list was made to provide a cliff-notes version for those who are not brave enough to slog through Dobson's whole letter. For instance, Dob really haates those gays. I combined several rants into point #8.
Anyhow, we can all hope the Dobson apocolyptic nightmare scenario world comes to pass after the rapture. When only us sensible heathens are left, imagine the laws we can get passed through congress.

I am sick of these people inducing hate and fear under the guise of Christianity.

Dobson does not practice true Christianity - at least not the way it was taught to me.
