CNN countering Obama's ad tonite by....
... giving McCain free airtime @9pm EST.

And so it begins, the ever increasingly evidence that most of the MSM is doing their best to keep McCain and their BS on the forefront of everyone's minds. Wasn't 8 yrs of it enough??

Where is the objectivity?? :wtf:

This 9pm slot given to McCain is so blatantly obvious that CNN does indeed have a biased agenda. They would not show the ad no allow Obama to purchase time for his TV spot he planned but they'll give McCain free air time essentially right after Obama's TV appearance? :wtf:

I am also witnessing how station after station are showing and replaying rallies of both McCain and Palin's, complete with the fear and smear stump speeches while glossing over Obama's and Biden's rallies...hmmm

Be very diligent people and be sure NOT to let these lowlife scoundrels steal this election with apparent bias towards the Democrats. Looks like that Rethug Machine has new wheels thanks to the MSM's non-partisan/non-biased reporting and coverage :sarcasm:

1. cnn showed Obama's speech in it's entirety this a.m. m$nbc did
not. Faux, I dunno.

Is McLame going to be on Larry King, or are they just giving him time? Big difference.

Guess they know it is a done deal, but still trying to make it a good race to attract viewers and advertisers... When Obama is elected... I am looking for some serious payback to CNN!

4. Going on Larry King is not "Free Air Time"... Obama has the same opportunity (and has in the past)

Stop with this meme.

CNN is not doing anything wrong here.

Obama is going on with Wolf Blitzer on Friday.

17. This is probably the "rescheduled" McCain appearance
after he backed out on LKL a while back for 'punishing' CNN for daring to question Tucker Bounds like real reporters, if I recall correctly.

They are all pretty much..
infomercials for McCain/Palin (CNN FOX MSNBC)...so I don't see it as CNN doing anything wrong either. Seems perfectly normal. It also seems perfectly normal that the Obama Campaign has to buy air time to get their message out. That's what you call "equal" time.

47. No...I'm not seeing 'bias'..
allowing 1 hour of free air time, to respond to a paid ad requires 1 hour of free air time to the other side. Period.

10. Let them do what they want.. Obama is controlling his agenda and that's what matters
To me the whole point of Obama doing this is so that he can control his message the way he wants in prime time on the channels he wants. Let the MSM flail around with McCain and their meme all they want but make no mistake that Obama will be watched by millions while McCain's appearance will be on a cable news network in an interview.

I don't care what the MSM says or does, tonight is owned by Obama and that's all there is to it.

immediate response to it. Obama is controlling the agenda, controlling the narrative--which means he's winning.

15. This is sort of the exact opposite of the fairness doctrine
Rather than making sure that each candidate gets the same amount of free airtime, they make sure that one candidate gets all the free airtime and the other gets the airtime he pays for.

they showed Obama's rally today in total going way over commercial breaks while MSNBC broke away

Everyone who wants to see Obama will be watching one of the three stations

having McCain on light weight King is not a serious news event and Obama could go on if he wants

26. It will only be shown on CNN. While MSNBC will be talking about Obama.
So no worries. Most of the stations will be critiquing Obama's statement and plan, CNN could decide not to do that and that's fine. Because they'll be the only ones out of the loop to talk about McCain and lose the majority of the discussion.
All in all, I'm not upset or annoyed by this. It's atypical of CNN and basically it hurts more than helps them. And we all knwo the only thing Anderson Cooper might be talking about is Obama, not McCain.

It is a news organization, and they can play a campaign rally.

If it was on one of the network stations where Obama bought the ad, then there will be a problem.

regarding federal election rules regarding 'news' coverage of candidates. Is Larry King the same as David Letterman? Is Anderson Cooper the same as Jay Leno? Is Jon Stewart the same as Wolf Blitzer? Is there anymore 'news' programming?
