This is exactly what Kerry lacked. He either responded to stupid shit in a serious way, or he didn't respond at all. As a result he always looked defensive, and a lot slipped by.

Obama addresses the stupid shit... and ridicules it. He takes firm hold of each ridiculous claim and "issue" and dismantles it with humor, demonstrating the utter goofiness of the claim. "My middle name isn't Hussein - it's actually Steve!" and now this.

This man is a complete game-changer.

This is how he is different.. and it's why shit doesn't stick to him. He points out how stupid people look when they do it.. and then he also DOESN'T do it back. He doesn't make absurd claims about McCain.. he simply attacks on the issues. Bush is an incompetent president, and McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time.

No smears, no name calling.. no bad associations game. Just simple facts.

It makes him look utterly presidential, and the fact that he won't play the republicans dirty games makes them so pissed. LOVE IT!
