...not that I'm advocating it, but here's why the thought occurs: on my way home from a meeting tonight, I tuned in our local NPR station, and they were interviewing two candidates for the Nevada Supreme Court. After listening for about 10 minutes, it became apparent that one of the candidates (both women), Ms. Pickering, was going out of her way to smear the other candidate, Ms. Schumacher. Even though it is a nonpartisan position, it was quite apparent which one was the Democrat and which one was the Republican. The fact that Ms. Pickering had introduced Sarah Palin at a rally may have been a clue -- it was funny when she was asked by the moderator, she hemmed and hawed and stammered and talked about free speech and the first amendment and finally said, hey, I didn't technically introduce her, that was Mr. (so-and-so) who officially introduced, I was just a down card speaker (yeah, right). Anyway. At the end of the show they had the call-in part (this was a rebroadcast so the call-ins were not live), and one gentleman came on and said, "You know, this is the reason you should wait until election day to vote. I voted yesterday, and if I had heard this show, I think I would have made a different choice."
It was funny. Somehow I just know which way he voted, and which way he wished he had voted.
And the funny part is, long before he called in, I was memorizing their names and thinking to myself, Well, at least now I know which one to vote for, and it sure ain't Pickering.
Just thought I'd share...
