Sarah Palin Quote of the Day, Re: Socialism
"We're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs."

-- Gov. Sarah Palin, quoted by the New Yorker, a few weeks before she was nominated for vice president.

1. I quit banging my head against the wall after my forehead went numb.
I give Alaska props for this approach--it was necessary at one time to induce people to move up there & cover their living expenses.

3. Olbermann used that quote tonight
right after he showed a clip of her saying "socialist" countries aren't free. (I wish I had the whole quote, it was a bit more detailed than that one line)

Strange, I never thought of Norway or Sweden as being especially oppressive.

4. sweden
one of my dearest friends is swedish. She went home to have her baby and got 18 months of paid maternity leave... doesn't sound so oppressive to me... and her baby had a serious inherited disorder. He was taken care of and is a happy healthy six year old now.

5. Seriously! We here in California get dinged for 42% - I'd GLADLY pay another 8%...
...to get what Sweden has!

Universal health care/unemployment/parental leave... the list goes on and on.
