Why doesn't Obama have any ads using Powell's endorsement?
Wouldn't that be a powerful ad to run-showing him in his own words, strongly endorsing Obama?

1. Maybe because that endorsement only worked for a small segment
and not the majority of Obama supporters?

Powell was one of Stevens' character witnesses, for example. He's not going to work for Obama over the breadth of the likely Obama voters?

6. I don't think it was supposed to work on people already supporting Obama
I think it was supposed to work on undecided voters.

My republican friend is all confused now... she was going to write in Powell for prez... :P

9. That's the point-to get people who are not YET Obama supporters...
His supporters won't stop supporting him, but people who don't trust Obama enough to vote for him COULD be swayed by a Powell endorsement.

2. The ads are being filmed inside a series of mobile video production trucks...
... to the north, east, south and west of Chicago.

4. I am wondering if some of Obama's 30 minute spot tomorrow will be those big endorsers.
Maybe some surprise ones, as well.

Whatever he does with it, I am looking forward to watching it.

So am I.

22. We're trying to get people who may have been FOR the war and don't BLAME Powell
for doing what he did.

20. An agreement between them perhaps?
They both said that Powell made it clear he had no desire to campaign. Powell said "that's not my thing," but I would imagine his feelings for McCain has to be a factor.

You can support your friend ..... or former friend's opponent without rubbing it in your friend's face.

Maybe Colin asked him not to and Barack is respecting that request?

28. Then why make such a powerful endorsement?
Why make any endorsement if you don't want it to help the person you're endorsing? It can't be that he doesn't want his views to be politicized--then why on earth would you make an endorsement on Meet the Press?!

29. Did you SEE the endorsement?
Powell was PISSED off, that's why he did it.

Trust me, he helped Obama more than we could have ever dreamed.

A bit of salt in the wounds? There's no need for that.
