Something to brighten your day-New LAT poll shows Obama up 49-40 and 50-43 in Ohio and Florida!!!

Overall: Obama 49%, McCain 40%

White, Working-Class Vote: Obama 52%, McCain 38%

Early Vote: Obama 57%, McCain 35%

Independent Vote: McCain 49%, Obama 38%

Male Vote: McCain 44%, Obama 41%

Religious doubts:

--7% believe Obama is Muslim

--Nearly 50% say they are not sure what religion he is.

Emphasis on economy:

--90% say the economy affects how they size up the candidates

--50% say that domestic issues such as the economy were most important in their choice of presidential candidate

--16% cited national security issues

--Ohio voters trust Obama more than McCain to make the right decisions about the economy, 50% to 38%

Prioritizing Change:

-- Among independent voters, 47% say they believe McCain will continue Bush's policies

Florida:

Overall: Obama 50%, McCain 43%

Early Vote: McCain 49%, Obama 45%

Independent Vote: Obama 51%, McCain 35%

Male Vote: Obama 49%, McCain 44$

Religous doubts:

--7% believe is Muslim

--44% say they are not sure what his religion is Muslim

Prioritizing Change:

--Among independent voters, 52% in Florida say they believe McCain will continue Bush's policies

The survey was conducted under the supervision of Times Poll Director Susan Pinkus from Oct. 25 to 27. In Florida, 809 registered voters were interviewed, including 639 deemed likely to vote. In Ohio, 816 registered voters were interviewed, including 644 likely voters. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points for registered voters, plus or minus 4 points for likely voters.

1. 7% believe he is Muslim
I would guess that his poll numbers would go up a significant amount if that impression were corrected.

I hope his half-hour program tomorrow includes something about his faith. It's a shame that 1) being a Muslim is a negative and 2) being a Christian is a positive, rather than either one being meaningless in a country founded on freedom of religion, but that's the way it is at least for now.
