Except for the more Southerly part of Texas, which is the REAL Texas.

The north parts have a lot of Oklahoma and Arkansas transplants...

Adding :sarcasm: for the humor impaired...

2. The Real Texas?
WTF?

You want to make comparisons to 2004? Here you go:

In 2004, 2,832,704 Texas Democrats voted for John Kerry in the General Election. In the 2004, only 839,231 Democrats voted in the Democratic primary.

Now, let's take a look at this year's Democratic primary. Wanna take a guess at how many people voted in that one?

A: 2,874,986

In other words, more Democrats voted in this year's primary than did in the whole 2004 GE. You make claims about my state when you have no idea what's going on here.

Real Texas... Bite my High Plains ass.

That's the real comparison.

Edit to add: I lived 25 years in Texas, 20 in Houston. I went to school there. My children were born there, my mother and siblings live there.

Yes I do know "your state".

11. I know the comparison
I'm just wondering why you tried to affix it to Texans. Personally, I think you messed up and now you're just back-peddling. But no worries. I'm used to others assuming things about my state. Make all the fun you want but if we by chance reward our 34 Electoral votes to Barack Obama, I will gloat like no one's gloated before. :)

12. I'm from the Valley.

I lived 25 years in Texas, 20 in Houston. I went to school there. My children were born there, my mother and siblings live there.

Yes I do know the state.

And if Texas goes blue, I will be jumping for joy and hollering.

I know that the Valley is solid Democratic, has been all the way back to Nixon.

That's why I made the comparison.

6. Bless your heart
High Plains. That's a bunch of forward-looking folks around you. Almost as much fun as my 78% straight Republican ticket county.

10. Tell me about
Just the same, it's been one heck of a liberating year. To be able to speak out loud, "I am a Democrat" has given me so much hope. Our primary caucus was the giddiest public event I've ever witnessed. Some poor old fellow for the republican side kept coming in and asking if there was anyone that maybe was in the wrong place. Our packed to-the-walls crowd just laughed and laughed.

Will the GOP voters beat us this year? Maybe, but they're going to work like hell to make it happen. :hi:

3. And suburbs of Houston
are rife with puke transients from Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio, Nevada, California, Louisiana, Alabama, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, Michigan, just about every red state there is. They are all attracted to the cheap housing and plentiful jobs here. Once the oil bust comes (and it will--never fails), there will be a lot of foreclosed homes beyond the economic crisis. When it happened in the 70s, lots of those folks just stole stuff to get money to get back home. Lots of Texans would just pay their fare if they would just speak up.

8. Would it help if I put a sarcasta-thingie on the OP?
Doesn't anybody remember Pfotenhauer's statement on "Real Virginia" being Southern Virginia?

7. I think Texas is very much in play...
early voting has been very busy...almost 2 million votes cast.

I think that the Valley will decide which way Texas goes because I think all other areas will cancel each other out.

9. More than 2 million
As of October 27, of the top 15 populous counties in Texas, 2,069,331 have early voted. That doesn't include all the other counties in this state. We're breaking records. that's for sure. :)
