October surprise: Is McCain guilty of manslaughter?
Has McCain been covering up an incident of manslaughter in his past?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/news-orgs-investigate-pos_n_138449.html

For the past two months, a major American magazine and an allied news service have been engaged in a legal battle with the United States Navy over records that they believe show that John McCain once was involved in an automobile accident that injured or, perhaps, killed another individual.

Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. And in documents suing the Navy to release pertinent information, lawyers for the NS News Service allege that a cover-up may be at play.

2. I think this is a moot point, and won't sway opinion at all.
A car accident is just that--an accident. They happen every day and are extremely unfortunate.

This would only look like low-class mudslinging if given play by the Dems (which it won't).

5. I agree....I think this should be ignored.
We've all been in car accidents, or we've known someone who had a car accident.

Accidents happen. To try to use that for political gain, even if someone was killed, could
backfire.

We've got enough going on with Obama's ideas and character--to propel us forward, instead
of trying to win by trying to kick McCain back a few notches.

7. Whatever. Go back to living in "Twinkle Toes La-La Land." This is WAR and any ammo is welcome!!
His killing a person is NOT the issue, but the spectre of any political pressure to keep this information hidden is a relevant issue. He kept this information out of his biography, so this begs the question: "What else has John McCain failed to tell us about his history?"

Also, if he would lie about this incident, then why should we believe his medical records supposedly stating that the melanoma is no longer a serious problem?

8. Oh please...
For this to work---You would have to prove that there was a cover up. How in the world
are you going to do that? They'll deny a cover up.

If there was an accident, and McCain comes forward and verifies it--that's the end of the story.

No way can some big cover up be proven in one week.

Also, you're relying on the media to make the connections that you laid out, "What else has John McCain
failed to tell us about his history?"

Do you actually believe that the media would sing this tune? With one week to go? You're living in
a fantasy world.

I want to win just as much as you do. I agree that we should use any ammo we can. I'm not shy
about slinging dirt. However, this is a half-baked story--with one week to go.

The most we could get is an acknowledgment of the accident from McCain--and then we look like
rabid wolves for trying to politically gain from someone's death from an accident.

No thanks.
