I walked by one of our custodians. For months, S seemed have no shirts that weren't Obama-related. A few weeks ago, our super sent an email reiterating that school employees were not to engage in any kind of campaigning while at work. The O-tees disappeared.

I'd never really spoken much to her, and never had had a chance to bring up politics. Given that this is the north Atlanta suburbs and I'm white, she might have assumed all this time that I'm a Republican for all I know.

But today, it was just us in the hallway. I smiled and said, "You think our guy's gonna pull it off next week?"

The change in her was immediate. "God, I hope so!" Her smile lit up the hall.

I told her that I thought it was going to be a good week. Transformational, even. She agreed. :)
