The touting of polls plays into the hands of media manipulators and hacks
The Democratic nominee will almost certainly have to contend with polls that claim a Bush lead. The mantra from the behinder will almost certainly be 'Let the voters decide!'. How credible is it to wave polls around as an indicator of the worth or merit of your candidate?

Further, these polls are presented here with no background as to # polled, margin of error, affiliation of the pollster, questioning format, etc. The posters are pushing the agenda of, who?

Also, in the age of the cell phone, how many actual voters are these Svengali pollsters reaching?

I'm sorry to see so many buy into this multi-million dollar scam propaganda because their candidate is favored. I'm equally concerned that some may turn away from a legitimate candidate because of some advertised poll.

Time to stop the poll voodoo before it backfires. Polls are biased and misleading.

1. Agreed! But CNN needs to have a good spanking for pulling that stunt.

:spank:

And Carville and Begala need a good spanking for going along with it and slamming Dean.

9. I like and trust Carville and Begala
And if they don't like Dean something must be up.

2. Polls are meant to LEAD the public to accept what corp. media wants

them to accept. The "done deal' syndrome. They did it throughout 2000, setting up the expectation that Bush would win by his constant lead in the polls. Playing the "inevitability" card.

3. And you didn't even mention
those who are screening their caller ID's. Check out this link about what those poor, poor companies who can't harass us at dinnertime anymore have to contend with (and how some of them get around it)...

4. We have to recall
that most polls showed Bush in the lead for the popular vote in 2000.

In fact, Bush's strategists were planning to argue "the people's will" if, as they expected, Bush won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote. Yes (surprise, surprise) their legal team was prepared to argue the question either way.

6. Exactly! This is how corporations manipulate perception
They're feeding the basic human trait (delusion?) of wanting to be on the side of the winner, right or wrong be damned.
