This next week is going to be nuts. Unbelievably memorable, in all our lives. Been posting here at DU about taking back our nation since 2002.

I will go to work this week and do my thing, but there is nothing remotely important there compared to what's coming on Nov. 4. To say I will be distracted is a ridiculous understatement.

How about you? How are you going to cope with ONE WEEK UNTIL THE ELECTION? What are your plans? What are your coping mechanisms? (Extra points for Wonder Woman fantasies. . . )

4. I have to fly out to CA this week to work, so I'll be thankfully preoccupied after
Thursday. Were it not for that, I've no idea what I'd do. I can't eat as it is, barely sleeping, afraid to turn the TV on, afraid to leave it off.

And I'm reading goth vampire romance novels. Oh, and last week, I invested in the stock market !! And bought two Tiffany lamps I didn't need. I'm all atwitter and getting worse everyday.

If it weren't for traveling out for work, by Nov 4th I'd be broke, anorexic, brain dead from lack of good literature and hanging out at vampire bars I guess.

I prefer the folks who don't scream, although I have to admit I've been enjoying Chris Matthews immensely. He's not as loud as Keth, but...almost!

ETA - and the computer and DU. While I'm nursing this knee injury I'm pretty much stuck, and spending way too much time on line. :)

13. Overcome my nervous stomach pains
I think we will be happy come Election Day, but I still get that nervous, tight feeling in my stomach (the same kind you get if your sports team was playing in a national championship)

The day before, I may not sleep very well. Maybe I'll just come on here. Coming on DU makes me feel better.

19. Mike Malloy.
I know a lot of DUers didn't like it earlier this year when Mike questioned how much Obama would really change things. But Malloy is 100% for Obama now and I find his show to be just what I need to sort out the day's B.S. And the Truthseekers thread here on DU are a great bunch.

21. I'll be working damn near every moment for the campaign.
I was setting up canvassing for our team until I feel asleep on the desk at some unknown hour last night. Got up at 6 AM to finish. Then none of the Moveon people who said they were going to come work showed up :hangover: We did get five areas canvassed but we should have gotten twice that number done.

I get to sleep late tomorrow and have to take Tuesday off to take care of personal stuff. Then it will be time and a half straight through until the polls close Election Day. We are contacting voters who do not vote regularly and all our new voters to encourage them to vote early or just to get out and vote.

The good news is that our Get out The Vote efforts are working! The Supervisor of Elections said that 50,000 people have already voted in our little county. There are only 174,544 registered voters in the entire county and five days into Early Voting and over 28% have already voted. The Supervisor of Elections is predicting over 85% turnout - a phenomenal rate. In 2004 everybody was impressed when we had about 70% turnout. :woohoo: :woohoo:

At this rate, we will not have much to do on Election Day!

24. My job goes crazy in late Oct thru Nov...
Seven day weeks, 18 hour days. Sleep, eat, work. Since I've already voted I'll take a break on the evening of the 4th to catch the results, but then it's back to the grindstone.

Frankly, it's not bad, the days haven't slowed down for me at all!

25. I'm a big fan of visualizing positive results
I personally believe it works, but even if you don't, it's a very pleasant way of passing the time. Especially since the best way isn't just to have a mental picture of what you want, but to really feel the emotions that go with it.

Every once in a while I slide back into freaking out about election fraud... but this time, I really think that the desire for change is just too strong and too widespread to make stealing the election possible. So I go back to thinking about the incredible feeling of lightness and joy that we will experience, along with the whole world, on November 5.

26. By focusing on the UT/Tech football game...
It's pretty much the biggest game in my school's history. We've been trying for years to get "over the hump" into the national spotlight, and taking out the #1 team in the country (we are ranked #6) is a good way to do it. :)
