Remember Charles Stuart?
Remember how he staged his wife's murder blaming it on a black man? Remember the outcry? Remember Mission Hill residents in Boston were under siege by the police looking for the "black male." It turned into the biggest racial crisis in Boston since segregation in the schools.

Sure, it was murder, not equal to blaming a black Obama supporter for an assault. But it could have taken the same turn. Even though Boston police soon began to suspect that Stuart was lying, it still caused damage between the police and the black community.

Charles Stuart ending up jumping (or did he get pushed?) off the Mystic Bridge thus ending his life.

Ashley Todd's actions reminded me of this today. Using racism to get what you want whether it be money, the girlfriend or an election. They're all bad reasons and a reminder that racism is filthy and disgusting and should not be gotten away with.

1. Yes and how about Susan Smith?
She killed her two kids and blamed it on a black man. How convenient. :grr:

2. I thought of him when I first heard
about this Ashley girl. We've heard this 'it was a black man' stuff before and I guess we're going to hear it in the future.

5. I thought of Susan Smith too....
I highly doubt that McCain will touch this subject....just as he and his VP wanna be took three long days to acknowledge the racist hate being spewed at their rallies...

"Silence in the face of hatred is NOT fit to lead!!!"

14. I am totally with you on that one....

...and this has really worked hard on my heart...I cant believe I have been so blind to think that our society was above this...evil has reared its ugly head...and McCain/Palin are domestic terrorists in my mind for stirring their shit and responding with silence...

I am disgusted that I have had to explain things to my 8 y/o like...why are ppl yelling "kill him" at their rallies...

I am disgusted that I watched a sickening video on youtube of the fascist crowd outside of their Strongsville, OH rally...and have written a letter to the editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer begging people to expand their minds beyond a candidate's name...

I am disgusted that I have been told by my 14 y/o stepdaughter (who is being raised by her racist redneck mother and stepfather) that she doesn't want a "black muslim" running HER country....

I am disgusted that I have had to argue radical, pathetic, ridiculous Obama slurs...and have been told that I'm unAmerican for voting the way I am...

I am disgusted that Ive sat in my church that I have felt so at home in for 7 years, only last week to hear the Pastor discussing a "certain candidate"...but wont name names in case there's a spy lurking to turn him into the IRS...then go on about a social issue over the failing economy...

I cannot believe that I have been so gullible and naive to think that society was better than that...and that people would give up a vote for the middle class sacrificing Healthcare, Medicare, the economy, a war that we were sold on with false pretenses, our environment, creating jobs ...it just makes me sick...

I pray every night for the Obama family....and I pray for our country...it needs it desperately...

11. Yep, they tried to blame the people in the projects
They always tried to blame the projects for everything back then. I remember going to the spot where it supposedly happened & thinking it was an awful crime - this is before the hoax was discovered obviously. The projects had such a bad reputation, I once drove in there when somebody was chasing me in my car, knowing they wouldn't follow me in there  That's my 'hood. :D
