results invalid due to "election fraud"? (They're already laying the groundwork with all their whining about ACORN, so I say no later than an hour after or maybe even immediately upon the call.)

1. Within 5 minutes
If this becomes a contested election, I am going to hate that party even more than I do now. After Gore gave it up I am still bitter, and no, I haven't gotten over it yet.

2. I will never get over the last two elections. And for the GOP to keep
screaming about our side rigging elections against them makes the bile rise into my throat and I see red. They frickin piss me off SO MUCH!

over the top in Indiana, very early like 7pm.

8. During the election itself? Hmmm Yeah that could definitely happen and will be
very interesting to see what state it is that triggers the complaint. Could well be Indiana like you say.

I doubt it would be my state (Maine). We vote with paper and pencil and Mc** was only looking to peel off a single EV here anyway.

10. Freeperland will become the reverse of DU demanding *s
impeachment.

Without the just cause, of course.

Looking forward to 8 years of the Repukes claiming it is unlawful for the President to speak to foreign leaders, meet with congressman and Senators, speak to the press, or have balls on Inauguaration day.

9. All the fraud chatter will be buried under an electoral vote landslide.
Even the wingnuts will have to concede that Obama rightfully won if Obama wins by large margins in enough states to get 350 EVs or more.

12. A sane candidate would concede. Not sure if Mc** will. He's erratic and this
is his last shot at the Oval Office.

They'll claim ACORN stole it. The bigger the margin the more they'll scream stolen.

14. I keept thinking we should wage a pre-emptive campaign to get the MSM to bust those lies on Nov. 4

This is the best post I've read on the ACORN nonsense: http://www.anonymousliberal.com/2008/10/theres-no-such-thing-as-voter-fraud.html

No individual person has any rational motive to commit voter fraud. It's a felony. And one vote just doesn't matter enough, no matter how strong your political beliefs are, to justify the risk of committing such a felony. The only way fraudulent voting could make a difference is if it was perpetrated on a massive scale. So let's consider what this massive conspiracy would necessarily involve:

1) You would have to submit an enormous number of fraudulent but seemingly legitimate voter registrations. Remember, the state still has to process and accept the registrations before the names get added to voter rolls. Duplicative registrations and ones with names like "Mickey Mouse" aren't going to cut it. The fact that Republicans keep hyping examples like this shows how little thought they've given this. If ACORN was really trying to commit voter fraud, wouldn't they use names that aren't obviously fraudulent?

2) State officials would have to process and approve a very large number of these fraudulent registration applications.

3) On election day, you would have to convince tens of thousands of people (at minimum) to go out and commit felonies. And once convinced, these people would still need to go to the right polling places and present the right credentials. Given how hard it is to convince people to go vote under normal circumstances, this is a pretty tall order.

And of course, you'd have to do all this completely without detection, with no paper trail, or voicemails to record, or anything.

Give me a fucking break.

I think we need to call on the MSM to make sure people understand this.

18. it's my suspicion that... the 2 major camps in the GOP will not want to take this approach
it's one thing for them to suggest obama won based on everything besides good ideas.

it's another for them to try to undermine the election results. unless it's really close, i think they will back away from this strategy... and instead seek to start positioning for the coming 2 years.

if they are blown out of the water... it will be partially due to the backlash over their politics.

they wont be able to afford making it even worse.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 11:19 AM by crankychatter
I think the same moderate leaders of the type that have endorsed Obama will have sufficient pull with the RNC to cause them all to back up

only Fox and fiends... along with wingnut radio, will harp on it

there will be only enough law suits from the RNC to placate their high warbling fringe

20. No doubt they'll throw a collective temper tantrum.
The margin of victory will be such that they won't really be able to dispute the outcome.

21. If the GOP raises a stink, we can push them to sign on for paper ballots and auditable
paper trails in future elections.

We can then push for transparency and prevent future cheating.

But they may not challenge this one because they'll want to use their electronic cheating in non-presidential elections later, to make sure Obama doesn't have a strong Democratic majority.

They're already claiming it. I fully expect professionally printed "impeach Obama" signs, same as they did in 1992 when Clinton won
