Hell has frozen over at last....
My husband works in a shop with six other guys, all of whom are fervent Republicans. He came home today and told me that one of them finally actually read the health care plans put forth by both McCain and Obama. That man, who had badmouthed Obama at every opportunity to date, told the rest of them that he was voting for Obama. The McCain supporters promptly got upset with him and he told them to sit down and listen. Then he explained to them the differences between the plans. By the time he was done, all but one had decided to switch to Obama. They were all really upset with the taxing aspect of McCain's healthcare plan and they finally decided that perhaps they would be generally better off under President Obama. My husband, the designated Democrat, had been trying to talk to them for months about Obama and they had tuned him out. The holdout muttered something about how that man will be shot within the first six months, at which point my husband jumped on his case with both workbooted feet.

Anyway five new crossover votes for Obama today.

2. My husband is blue collar... same thing at his work
Not six people but his crew, although crude in some of their talk, all agree Obama would be the best. It's Oklahoma.......but hell, you never know.

3. I work for a general contractor. I don't talk politics much at work, but they all
know that I'm voting Democratic. Most of the guys aren't much into politics, but lately they've been discussing the election during lunch. Several of them have watched the debates (which is surprising for a start) and most of them have decided that they just can't support McCain. Some of them are just not going to vote at all (I guess they just can't bring themselves to vote for Obama), but some have declared that they will vote for Obama. It seems that McCain's choice of Palin for VP was a big factor for most of them.
