4. More than that...
He's not only appearing to throw his election, but he's appearing to throw the elections of all the downticket Republicans who are struggling in their campaigns, as the electorate just becomes uninterested in Republicans.

See the "dog eat dog" post.

7. Do you think...perhaps
And this is totally out of my ass, so pardon the smell..

But do you think this is 'payback' to Bush for 2000?

Be the final nail in the GOP coffin?

10. I have wondered, frankly...
He's not only destroying his own campaign, but as was pointed out here:

http://www.politico.com/playbook/

(In the last paragraph) He doesn't even have the decency to do what Dole did, which was campaign in states he had no chance of winning toward the end, to help the downticket Republicans.

Sure seems like he's trying to kill the Republican party. It might be the only shred of "honorable POW" left in him.

5. It seems that way
All these events happening at the same time:

-Economic Crisis
-Fanning the flames of hate
-U.S. Brigade deployed on American soil
-Totally cluserfucked GOP Campaign

I don't think the GOP really wanted to win this race - surely they had something better to offer us than McCain/Palin.....

13. Just after the Palin choice ---
I asked here if we were looking at a situation where those around McCain were activelly trying to torpedo his candidacy -- kind of an Othello/Iago thing. McCain was NOT the choice of the GOP machine people -- I honestly think they were upset that he got the nomination, and I wonder if some on his campaign have been working to undermine him hoping O will be the nominee, so the GOP can shit on him for four years and then run a machine candidate.

Like Hillary in the primary, someone is giving the guy some very seriously bad campaign advice that is killing his run.

15. i am not alone in saying... ive been asking myself this for 2 months
By all accounts, mccain war cornered on his vp pick and forced to take a social conservative rather than lieberman.

Mccain is an asshole, holds grudges and has a temper problem.

Sometimes i wonder if he doesn't put Palin out there knowing she is tearing down the credibility and legitimacy of the far-right religious warriors. It may be that he isn't as much intending that as he may simple be enjoying that secondary outcome.

I keep going back to the fact taht he apparently "made up his mind" during a 30 minute phone convo with 2 of his top strategists, after having spent barely any time with palin. She wasn't a big contender until the last minute.

There are many aspects of the campaign that seem sloppy if not down-right self-destructive.

And i think that's because Mccain knows how unethical, how disgraceful and how insincere his campaign truly is.

He has spent a long time slamming campaigns and politics precisely like those he is now pushing out there. He's an egomaniac who primarily runs based on his self-righteous sense of honor. We've seen some indignation on his part during the election, but for the guy who has been the top guest on The Daily Show... this is more than usual flip flopping.

The new Mccain is literally a complete rejection of the old Mccain.

This campaign is 100% everything he has previously called disgraceful and even unamerican.

It was in the financial reports for teh RNC for September.

I think his cancer was worse than they let on...I also read somewhere he's spent 100K on makeup alone.

I think he's sick.

on edit: He's concerned about his legacy...concerned he wouldn't make it through a term. Concerned that he'll be remembered for choosing that empty headed skirt.
