*** Rec this if you voted early for Obama-Biden ***
I have seen many individual threads about people voting early for Obama-Biden. I thought it might be nice to see a collective thread where everyone who has voted early could go to post their "I voted" message. It would be nice if it made it to the Greatest page so others who voted early could find it easily and so we could see our Democracy in action.

I voted early today with my spouse. I was proud to vote for Obama-Biden. I felt like I was making history. I got a little nervous when my ballot was put into the "E,S & S" scanner but I kept my composure and my vote was counted. I was number "862" on machine A. I don't like the scanners but I dislike electronic voting even less. I was glad to fill in my bubbles next to my candidates of choice.

So, just an idea to have a combined thread but I hope it will win your support. Rec this thread if you did your part to make history in 2008!

i'm in NC. when i volunteered i asked the guy why the campaign is pushing early voting and he said, because it's going to be chaos on election day. and i said, are you confident about the integrity of the process? some people actually laughed but i was dead serious...he said that in NC the board of elections is very well respected. i had to go with that. i voted today -

lol - some of the races were not endorsed by the democratic party here (non partisan). i considered writing my own name in for one of them in case there was to be a recount, then i would know that my vote had been counted. but i didn't do it.

let's face it, they've been fucking with the vote for at minimum the last eight years and that was without early voting (was there early voting before this election?). i personally feel just as safe early voting as i would on election day. not as serene as i was before 2000, that's for goddamn sure.

35. Mrs. Scrutinizer and I voted on Saturday
Oregon ballots arrived last Friday - we filled them out and I dropped it off at the county elections drop box on Saturday morning. The elections office checks your name off the list when your ballot is received and those lists are available for GOTV efforts. If you vote early, the GOTV people can target those who haven't voted, and you don't get phone calls interrupting your dinner.

And I voted for every single Democrat on my ballot.

It was an exciting day when I received my absentee ballot in the mail. I didn't fill it out immediately, savoring the anticipation for a few days.

After I marked my votes, I held on to my ballot for a few more days, reluctant to let it go, holding my vote near to me for a little while longer.

Today I handed it to the Elections Commission. Many people were in line to vote. There were Obama stickers and McCain stickers and Support our Troop stickers and Nebraskans for Peace stickers in the parking lot.

I suppose it is inevitable that my EV will be cast for McCain, but I will know that *I* voted for Obama.

68. Just got home from voting today in Ohio. . .
I turned in my daughter's absentee ballot too, so that makes 2 for Obama today!

I may be paranoid though, I noticed when I folded the paper ballot, the only dark circle in the crease of the fold was my vote for Obama. I don't know much about vote scanners but I decided to make the fold above the center just in case. I got the ballot to fit into the envelope and slipped it into the security box.

But is was on a Diebold machine. Fortunately, it was the new one with the paper roll that you could check to see if your vote was registered as you made it. At least I know my vote will count in a recount then.

99. Early voter from Chi-town here!
The first day of early voting here in Chicago, I happened to be at the County Building (Washington and Clark) and as I was getting off the Blue Line at the Washington stop, I noticed signs for the early voting locations.

I walked by and saw a little line, but it was moving really fast. The Chicago election workers are terrific. It took my all of 8 minutes from the time I walked up and said I wanted to vote and when I walked out of there (and I voted for every judgeship and local office).

There was a real celebratory atmosphere there. A lot of the poll workers downtown are African-American or Hispanic and although they were very professional and didn't have any campaign-gear on, you got the feeling that they knew something big was taking place (and we're two weeks from election day!).

Like others that have posted here, when I tapped that spot for Obama, my heart swelled with pride. I'm not all that sentimental usually, but this was something special. My daughter, who is just a few months shy of voting age, has really surprised me with her interest in this election and the energy and enthusiasm with which she is paying attention to the news and blogs.

I don't like to predict a winner (this IS Cubs country after all) I believe that the significant change has already taken place. Even if the Republicans manage to commit enough fraud and deceit to put McCain in office, it's just too late to stop what has already happened.

115. I'm not sure. We use paperless vote flippers for the big elections.
For the regular elections we use paper ballots with optical scanners.

Most of the voters that I saw appeared to be Democrats. The Pete Sessions representative only bothered to try to speak with one guy.

There were a number of very enthusiastic Obama volunteers. I did not see the Repiggies circling and stealing signs like they have in the past.

117. I Watched the sun rise as I waited in line for the polls to open.
I voted for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, for Democrat Raul L. Martinez to take Florida's 21st U.S. Congressional District seat from Republican Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and against the anti gay marriage amendment.

The folks in line were very well-behaved and I never heard a word about who or what anyone supported. I answered a couple of questions, being careful to not exhibit any bias.

I'm an Election Inspector, so we can vote two weeks before Election Day on a paper ballot. After McLame chose Failin I posted a thread that told of my 99 year-old neighbor who was leaning toward PUMA-ism changed her mind when I told her that Palin was anti-choice. She was six months shy of her 100th birthday when she passed away last Friday. I met her aide (who is wild for Obama) in the laundry room yesterday and lamented the fact that we had lost our dear friend and her vote. She said, "Oh no, she voted absentee and already sent it in." I don't know if they do a last minute comparison of votes/obituaries at the BOE, but I know she would enjoy knowing she did get to vote for CHANGE. GObama! :dem:

Edit for clarity

158. Voted in Fla.
Downtown Orlando - mid-day Tuesday. 30-minute wait and lots of energy in line (even in the middle of a library).

My retired parents just voted on the east side of town today - took them an hour first thing morning. They turned it into a breakfast date, bringing along their Panera bagels and coffee and making the other retirees and on-their-way-to-workers in line jealous.

Still pressing hubby to vote early, but he's on a deadline this week and can't risk getting caught up in a long lines. He's betting next week will be a bit less hectic (fingers crossed).

176. I voted in Rockwall, TX
on the first day open for voting. Rockwall is probably one of the most Repug counties in Texas and the county voting office was absolutely hopping with activity. Voted 'cause you never know when you're goin to get hit by a bus. My vote doesn't count much in stoopid Texas, but it will add to the popular vote.

Couldn't believe it when she voted straight Democratic.

She's never done that. "I'm not voting for any Republicans" is what she said.

And they were paper ballots here in Wisconsin. Obama/Biden is my ticket.O8)

185. I took my 89 Year Old Father-In-Law along and we both voted
for Obama/Biden today. :)
I am SO proud of him. He's a WWII Veteran, who was a staunch, life-long Republican, but has perhaps THE most open mind that I have ever experienced in an elderly person. He REALLY listened to my MANY rants concerning McCain and Palin and actually agreed with my point of view. He's always been stubborn, but something about Barack moved him and I couldn't be happier. My father-in-law is extremely disgusted with the behavior of his own party (he says they have no honor left and he is ashamed) and I think he is done with the Republican party (as many of his fellow senior-citizen friends are). Immediately after we voted, we went to Brevard For Obama (http://www.brevardforobama.com/) and bought more yard signs (McCain supporters keep stealing and vandalizing them), t-shirts and bumper stickers. My father-in-law (Ed) has also informed me that he fully expects a Victory Party on election night and I promised not to disappoint him! :D

Our two youngest (grown) came over, and we filled out our tonight. Their ballots are sent here.
Our other two have also sent theirs in. We are dropping ours off at a collection center. I miss going to the little church where we used to vote. I am not sure I like these mail in ballots in WA.

But, that is a total of six, Mr.ClayZ, me, and our 4 kids.

WOOOO HOOO! GO OBAMA

209. I cried when I filled out my ballot a couple of hours ago,
and had to stop several times, because I couldn't see the ballot though my tears.

Then I bundled up, and walked out to the mail box with my ballot. It was still dark, and the road to the mail box is about 1/4 mile long, skirting a swamp on one side, and a field on the other. There were coyotes in the field singing their yip yip coyote songs.

What a wonderful way to start the day! I'm a happy woman.

216. I voted 10-18-08 DEMOCRAT all around
My partner and I stood in line for 3 hours. We passed one of the local republicans on our way into the polls, she's a rabid righty against gay marriage and gay adoption, and as we passed she said "appreciate your vote", my partner said, "well, you're not getting ours". I was so proud. I'm usually the loudmouth, but that day he took over.

There were huge lines and I saw MANY Obama stickers in the parking lot.

254. Voted for Obama today
I took my mom voting. Lines were short, so a piece of cake. Our ballot was black ink pen on paper, and no way to make a mistake.
I voted straight ticket for the most part.

257. Mission Accomplished
Of course, voting democratic in Texas is kinda spitting in the ocean, but yeah...

Go Obama!

If only Texas could turn out Democratic this election... Things were SO much better with Governor Richards...

267. Just early voted in Chicago. The line was LONG, but instead of annoying me it made me proud.
I could just tell the vast majority of people there were voting for Obama. No buttons, t-shirts, or conversations, just a knowing looking on everyone's face. Proudly voted for Dick Durbin as well.

I was surprised at how emotional I got hitting the button for Obama/Biden. It was a struggle to hold back tears of joy and relief and hope.
