3. NC is the one that is most surprising...seems to be holding in all polls.

2. WV - McLame +9????????......
WTF? I'm kinda embarrassed of what's happened to my state. Back in the day WV used to be a Dem stronghold. I guess the racists and idiots have taken over.

4. but back in the day the Democratic Party was the racist party
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 05:31 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
A lot of elderly life-long Dems started out as Dems because they were more pro-segregation.

What's sad is that WV exists only because it was the less racist part of VA, but now is more racist than VA. Ironic.

6. Yes.
Or more precisely, for a hundred years millions of Americans refused to vote for the party that freed the slaves--even after that party embraced all of America's peculiar evils, including racism.

7. I think that's only a small part of it..........
Obama has all but given up on WV. He hasn't been here since May, and Biden is scheduled to come here for (I believe) for his first visit on Fri. But I fear its a little too little, little too late. Which is a shame because I have met quite a few motivated Obama supporters in my neck of the woods. I know he's sent some cash, but his lack of presence only reinforces the ignorant and disenfranchises his supporters.

16. The state seems to poll closer than it ends up - or at least did the last two times
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 10:12 PM by fujiyama
and it certainly seems to have tightened more than most expected it to, but the state has always been uphill climb regardless - and for the number of electoral votes it has - it's just not worth a ton of time or money. Especially considering time is running out, Obama will probably make a run through more probable electoral vote rich states.

15. I love the numbers
and I hate to be spoil sport, but CNN/Time polls kinda lean Dem or at least have in the past.

Let's hope these leads hold - or better yet widen! And I'd like to see the same number reflected by other pollsters...
