Bill Clinton: "Obama understood that the Wall Street you're mad at doesn't exist anymore"
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 02:48 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
(Pointing out that there is no longer a single Wall Street investment bank left and Noting how easy it would have been for Obama to play politics by opposing an unpopular but necessary position.)

Bill is doing a magnificent job of describing the bail-out and contrasting Obama's handling of it and McCain's. It's the most coherent description of the situation offered by any politician by far.

Listening to the anti-bail-out Republicans in Congress made him embarrassed for the Republican party... "I realized, these guys couldn't pass home economics."

Expect some wing-nut blow-back from Bill's description of how the anti-bailout republicans might as well have emptied an Uzi into McCain's body. A little on the vivid side!

Aside from that violent image, this new speech of Bill's (this weeks') is remarkable. Let's buy him 15 minutes of national air-time.

2. Great speech.
One of the things he stressed was that Obama's election, unlike his own in 1992, will signal the collapse of right-wing politics and policy -- because in the interim we've had 8 years to see what an utter disaster they've been when they've been fully applied.

(But yeah, the Uzi thing seemed ill-judged.)
