Whaa, Whaa, Whaa...Call A Whambulance
McShame says Obama is buying the election, Mitchell on MTP says Obama has such a big financial advantage over McSame and on and on it goes. Poor John only has 84 million (and all the RNC and 527money). I can guarantee that if the tables were turned....Also nobody mentions how many small donors have built up these vast amounts one dollar at a time, that would smack of democracy actually working.

1. Remember what JFK claimed his father told him before the election?
"Don't buy a single vote more than necessary. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for a landslide."

2. Obama refused to walk into McCain's trap
of taking the public money, thereby tying his hands where he could be obliterated by the 527's and the RNC, who are free to spend as much as they wish.

7. NO Need For That
Accusing them of whining accomplishes nothing. The fact is yes, Obama has a tremendous financial advantage and he is using it. I have no problem with this (and not just because I want him to win) for the following reasons: 1 - he is raising his money through several small donors, even going so far as to refuse lobbyist and PAC money in this campaign. 2 - The Republican Party has a tremendous fund-ra/ising advantage over the Democratic Party. Obama is merely leveling the playing field. 3 - Can we say 527? These various groups have tremendous influence on the election and the regulations in place don't stop it.

13. Come Now
Allow us our moment. When, ever, has a dem had more money than a Con? So now, for once, the shoe is on the other foot and typically, they are in their don't do as we do mode. The hypocrisy is stunning even as it's being used as an excuse to explain away McShame's incompetent campaign.

17. I'm Too Kind, Perhaps
Although I see the danger of getting too cocky, there is a part of me that feels confident Obama is going to win. That part of me looks to November 5 and a need to unite the nation that has been so torn apart for almost 8 years.

If Obama is defeated, I will consider it was because the Republicans cheated, or only won by appealing to the worst in America, not the best. I will not be gracious. I will look suspiciously at any olive branches.

If Obama wins, I will be gracious. I hope we will genuinely reach out to the other side and try our best to win them over. There are some we will never reach, there are others who only need to not feel we are obnoxious winners.

In the meantime, I have been canvassing, phone banking, etc to help make November 5 a day of celebration.

21. Too Kind?
I would call you a true democrat. I know what you're saying about not rubbing their noses in it if we win. However, among st friends there will be great rejoicing and much satisfaction. That said there have been and will be moments along the way where there is a sweetness to be savored. Us having the most money is a joy for us and from what I can see, a shock to them. Me too. But after the last 8 years in the desert there are times when you just have to take your moments.

His supporters are. Because they believe in him and want him to win.

11. What's funny is that Obama's demonstrating a successful privatization of election funds
which is normally what Republicans support. I mean they LOOOOOVE the free market and letting the market decide. And suddenly it's bad just because it happens to screw them over? This instance is a case for why regulation needs to be done well-- Obama has effectively demonstrated what sort of smart regulation he'd do. He has refused lobbyist and PAC donations even though he didn't have to and when he took the nomination, he also made the DNC follow those rules too. And yet, with those self-imposed ethical restrictions, Obama still has managed to do pretty goddamn well for himself. So yeah, Republicans just show off what total fucking hypocrites they are and that even with the few good ideas they have, they're too incompetent to implement them in an effective way.

19. It's the rules baby

I would rather all this money removed and each side have free access to an equal number of commercial opportunities. I don't personally like the idea one side can have 'more access' to the public than others, but it's the rules of the game and perfectly legal and legit.
