Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 12:37 PM by Beaverhausen
Brokaw brought up race, as if Powell was only endorsing Obama because he is black.

Brokaw brought up Ayers, even after Powell stated correctly that Ayers doesn't matter to most of the electorate.

Brokaw said "John Lewis compared McCain to George Wallace" when we all know that is NOT what John Lewis said.

Fuck Tom Brokaw.

2. re: Lewis - All About Nuance
because Republicans often brag about not doing nuance and not being intellectual, they really don't get what Lewis said.

Saying the feeling he got from the McCain/Palin rallies was like the feeling he got from George Wallace rallies is not the same as saying McCain is like Wallace.

If you have brains and aren't just feigning outrage to make a political point, you know this.

I thought Brokaw was smarter than that.

6. Will most people remember what Brokaw said or what Powell said?
I haven't seen the interview - I'll watch the replay on MSNBC later.

8. Well, look at the thread about what the freepers are saying about 'all blacks stick together"
That is what reminded me of what Brokaw said to Powell.

I was disgusted at how Brokaw came back at him with these points.

7. I turned him off
I saw that also and I was livid.
Brokaw is the poster boy for the failure of the MSM over the last 8 years.
He's such an obvious shill for McCain - I don't understand why he's considered credible anymore. He should be on Fox.

12. I think brining up these issues gives Powell a chance to respond
to them?

Admittedly, I did not see the interview, but am taping the repeat.

14. There was nothing to respond to until Brokaw brought it up.
Now it's an accepted line of thinking that Powell endorsed Obama because he's black.

Would Brokaw have asked General Franks if he was endorsing McCain because he's white?

18. Powell has said
previously that he told Obama "I'm not going to endorse you simply because you're black" and he told McCain "I'm not going to endorse you simply because you're a Republican."

The desperate would have promoted the notion, regardless IMHO.

13. Drudge picked it up immediately.
Funny how these talking points always seem so coordinated. It's almost like Drudge and Brokaw both knew what the line of disparagement would be.
