The Demise of Michele Bachmann, a Bat Shit Crazy Conservative Woman
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 11:39 AM by bvar22
Michele Bachmann (Congresswoman 6th District, MN)
Michele Bachmann is another shining example of the values of Conservative Women.
She is Minnesota's very own Sarah Palin.

Conservative Courage
Michele says what she means, and stands up for what she believes in (not).
Before being elected to the US Congress, Bachmann held a seat in the Minnesota State Senate.
Standing up for her conservative beliefs, Michelle circumvented the Minnesota Senate Committee process and forced a floor vote of the controversial amendment to end domestic partnerships, and ban civil unions and same-sex marriage.

After the session, Michelle was going to face representatives of the gay community on the steps of the MN Capital and defend her position on Gay Rights when she suddenly got tired, and had to rest on the sidewalk. I know it looks like she was hiding, but she swears she was only resting. Unfortunately, the sudden exhaustion forced Michelle to miss this opportunity to stand up for Republican values. (That is Michelle crouched down in the right of the red circle).

Michele openly displays her commitment to conservative values.

She is a dedicated, unquestioning, submissive servant of Republican Leadership.
There is nothing she won't do to ensure the successful propagation of Republican father figures.
This enthusiastic woman should be proudly displayed on the Republican ticket as the perfect model of what conservatives expect from their women.

A Nation Responds
Since Bachmann's appearance on MSNBC, her opponent, Democrat El Tinklenberg has received near 1/2 Million Dollars in unsolicited donations from around the country, and the money is still flowing into his campaign coffers. The story in no longer about Bachmann making stupid remarks on a lightly viewed cable talk show. The story is NOW about the response from a nation no longer willing to tolerate extremist ideology.

If the REAL story about the Nation's response to Bachmann is mentioned on the Sunday MSM talk shows, donations to Bachmann's Democratic opponent will continue to snowball.

(excerpt from the St Cloud Times, a conservative paper from the county seat of Bachmann's district)
More than 9,000 individual donors contributed to the DFL- and Independence Party-endorsed challenger’s campaign from nationwide, mostly through the Internet, said Tinklenberg spokesman John Wodele.

“It’s phenomenal what the Internet has done to politics,” he said.

http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081019/NEWS01/110180039&s=a

The other real story is the demise of the Media's ability to control information and form opinions. Elections are no longer "local"; incumbent Politicians and Corporate Executives no longer have a monopoly on information and image crafting. The Internet has freed America and the World. The immediate response to Bachmann's outrageous comments was DEVASTATING, and was propagated through the Internet.

We are watching You!

"Come gather round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
Youll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin
Then you better start swimmin
Or youll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance wont come again
And dont speak too soon
For the wheels still in spin
And theres no tellin who
That its namin.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Dont stand in the doorway
Dont block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
Theres a battle outside
And it is ragin.
Itll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And dont criticize
What you cant understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin.
Please get out of the new one
If you cant lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin.
---Bob Dylan

As dumb as crazy as she is - I don't think that Katherine Harris would even call members of congress un-American and say they need to be investigated.

19. Hi, MM.
I observed a parade in Stillwater before Bachmann's election in 2006.
Michele was marching in the parade with her husband.
The body language and dynamics between the two were revealing.
He was treating her like a show dog.
The leash was invisible, but it was REAL.
Fundamentalists demand submissive servants, and there are women who are happy to oblige......
I'm glad I don't know any personally.

I felt pity for Michele that day.
It was embarrassing, but she didn't seem to know it.
I was embarrassed for her.

PS:
I am happy here in rural Arkansas, but sometimes I ache for Minneapolis/St Paul.

24. My gawd, I'm ogling your garden! What a spectacular site. I'm in awe.
I think your astute observation that Bachmann is nothing but a show dog is spot on. It's amazing how wildly diverse Minnesota's representation can be, isn't it? To think that Paul Wellstone and Rod Grams served in the Senate together, as well as Keith Ellison and Michele Bachmann. I truly hope E has a chance in this district, because I really think most folks probably don't realize what a extreme rabid wing nut she is, until now.

For those who would like a primer about Michele Bachmann's rise to power, here is a 2006 article from the City Pages:

6. "exhausted" . . . ? By contradictory orders re Gay Rights from within the party?
I CAN'T imagine why she'd head over there to talk to these Folk and then get cold feet. . . ????????????????

Maybe she's only used to a plastic wading pool in her backyard and was suddenly confronted with Cliff Diving.

11. She has offered several "explainations".
1) She has claimed that it wasn't her hiding behind the bushes.
This LIE has been discredited by photographic evidence of the clothing she is wearing.
It is the same exact suit she was wearing when she forced the vote in the Senate.
Her bodyguard has also been identified.

2) The exhaustion excuse.
She also claims that her high heels were huirting, and she had to sit down to take them off. The above photo shows this to be a LIE. She is not sitting, she is crouching.

The truth is she snuck out of the back door to avoid the crowd on the Capitol steps and had to sneak along the bushes to get to her transportation.

so far (though the cash infusion and DCCC entry will help). The polling is close, but it feels like Dems just can't get past that high-40s barrier in MN-6; I think it will come down to whether the Obama campaign can push enough GOTV for there to be a coattails effect.

Reports of her demise may be a bit premature, but I'm willing to take that risk.
I am elated that the Right Wing Extremists can no longer spew their hate and get away without consequences. I feel our movement has been empowered after a lengthy exile. We have reached a Tipping Point. We can now influence the MSM, and our own "representatives" must now acknowledge our existence instead of simply making a bunch of election promises and then serving their Big Money Interests once elected. We have a vehicle to directly address our grievances.

For me, the more important story is the immediate national response through the InterNet.
However, this could actually backfire.
If I were a resident of MN CD-6, I would have a negative response to the national interference in my local election.

30. Speaking as a resident of MN CD-6, I'd like to point out that we're happy to get
all the national 'interference' we can. Also - most of Bachmann's fundraising from 2yrs ago came from outside the state. She has had major Republican party backers from day 1. On her *FIRST* election go-round, she had Rove, Cheney and Bush campaign in the state for her. Don't be fooled - this is not a local issue. We were largely overrun by outside republicans in 2006.

35. I'm glad to hear that.
I lived in downtown St Paul (W 7th St) until 2006 and used to ride my bicycle to Stillwater on the Gateway Trail frequently.

I'm glad that in this instance, a Congressional District is attracting national attention.
I still believe that locals should be able to elect their representatives without inteference (Dem or Repub). I am still angry that the DCCC came to Minneapolis and used their BIG MONEY to torpedo the Primary Campaign of a local grass roots activist.

23. It is much worse than that photo.
This happened at the State of the Union Address 2006 on Global Television.
Michele was an incoming freshman congresswoman, and managed to finagle a seat on the aisle where Georgie Boy was making his entrance. When George walked by, she jumped him.

She did everything short of raising her skirt, turning her ass to him, and bending over like a dog in heat.....ON GLOBAL TV!!!!

If either Bachmann or Bush had the capacity to feel embarrassment, they would have.

who ran an abysmal campaign--and who had previously lost the '06 Dem Senate primary and the '04 race for MN-6 against then-rising-star Mark Kennedy--and whose apparent only qualification was that her son was kidnapped and killed a long time ago (think Rudy with 9/11 or McCain with being a POW). She talked a lot about being a "child safety advocate," but never offered a compelling reason to vote for her, much less any detailed policy positions.

Bachmann, on the other hand, ran a honor-and-taxes campaign. You know, the "You may not always agree with me, but you'll know where I stand, and I stand for cutting spending and lowering taxes" type. She won by eight points.

Her "official" photo is not an accurate likeness. IMO, the thumbnail in the upperleft corner is more attractive. The official photo has been doctored.

I've noticed the same changes to George Bush's official photo.
They have widened the head, moving his eyes further apart trying to diminish his beady eyed, not to be trusted look.

Somewhere in the bowels of the Republican Propaganda Machine, some Right wing Think Tank Propaganda Psychologist believes that wider heads appear more trustworthy?

37. Like Palin, she's another completely insane religious nut
In a speech to her church, the Living Word Christian Center, which is an Evangelical charismatic church that teaches that the Pope is the anti-Christ, she claimed that God sent a message to her telling her to run for Congress. In 1993 when Bachmann worked to establish a K-12 charter school in her part of Minnesota, she was criticized for her program to teach Christian values in the classroom. She even banned the Walt Disney film Aladdin from being shown at this school, claiming it promoted witchcraft. She has also favored teaching creationism and intelligent design.

This is not a knock of religious people in general on my part. I just don't like those who want to force their brand of religion on others in our schools and government.

46. Bachmann dials down Obama criticism
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 06:52 PM by steve2470
http://www.startribune.com/local/31250729.html

MINNEAPOLIS - U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann is retreating from a statement she made two days ago that Barack Obama "may have anti-American views."

The comment by the first-term Republican fueled a surge of campaign donations to her opponent, Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg.

Bachmann appeared on a WCCO-TV show on Sunday to say she isn't saying that Obama's views are anti-American. She says, "That was a misreading of what I said."

But she says the Democratic presidential nominee's views are "concerning" and deserve more media attention. She says if he's elected it will mean tax increases, socialized medicine and climate change taxes.
