Please sign the petition to CENSURE Michele Bachmann
Rep. Bachmann's incendiary rant against Sen. Obama and his fellow Democrats and liberals in Congress and in the nation at large was not only irresponsible in its deceit and hate-mongering. She debased Congress itself. As an offense against the nation, the people have recourse by spending their money, time and effort to unseat her and replace her with a responsible person. But only Congress can punish her for offenses against itself. Please censure Rep. Bachmann.

2. I understand why someone wants to centure, but I don't think she
broke any laws. She was a disgusting, hate filled partisan jerk, but I don't think there are any laws against that.

I checked wiki, and it specifically states "censure is used to warn an official that they brok the law or committed a crime."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censure

I honestly believe the BEST punishment we could use against her is to help her opponent defeat her in the upcoming election. THAT she would understand, and it would have a MUCH STRONGER impact on her than any words ever could.

3. I believe it's also used when a member calumniates another member
Such as when Jean Schmidt called John Murtha a "coward." Of course she was in Congress when she made that remark, which is strictly against the rules.

4. You don't have to break the law to be censured
Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), a gentleman not known for circumspection in his public commentary, has the following to say today on the House floor during the SCHIP debate: "I'm just amazed that they can't figure out -- the Republicans are worried that they can't pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq."

More Stark: "Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

...

The National Republican Congressional Committee issued this release in response to Stark's comment today: "Pete Stark and the Democrat leadership owe the American people an apology, the troops and their families an apology, and they should apologize to the millions of children being held political hostage by their party’s desperate attempt to score a political victory instead of providing healthcare for those who need it most."

7. Only if it's some asshole collecting names for a mailing list.
Which it could be, considering there's no information about who it is on the site.
