First televised Monegan interview - Palins "obsessed"
Now that Walt Monegan has filed a complaint against the guv, he finally broke his silence on Troopergate and gave an extended interview to KTUU's Jason Moore. I believe there will be more over the coming days, but this first 14 minutes is pretty chilling.

Yup. Pretty chilling. They are obsessed with revenge. This is what happens when you give immature trailer trash types public office.

4. There was so much traffic last night,
plus it was kind of late, I thought it would be a good idea to post it again. I think it's good to hear in Walt's own words, and in his very calm manner, just exactly what went down between him and the Palins. I think Todd's a menace, personally.

12. I do too.
There is malice in those beady rat eyes. He gives the aura of an evil svengali hiding behind his caribou barbie mask. I suspect he's the 'brains' of the two, but not charismatic enough to run for offices on his own merits.

5. Hi Blue
Thanks for the link.
I watched the video and my first gut re-action is this man is sincere, believable, very well-spoken and intelligent. Overall, do most Alaskans agree?
Can you answer this: When he says he's filed, what does that mean? What did he file?
Does he even have a job now? Or has she ruined his life?

and that's why we've been so upset about this whole incident. Walt is particularly popular out in the Bush where as DPS commissioner he was trying to get a handle on the unique problems that our rural residents face being so far off the road system and the ordinary law enforcement services that we here in the more urban areas take for granted.

He filed with the Personnel Board in a request on Monday for a "Due Process Hearing To Address Reputational Harm", inflicted by Governor Sarah Palin. Andrew Halcro's reporting on this is here http://www.andrewhalcro.com/walt_monegan_fires_back with a PDF of the actual complaint.

9. Blue, curious about the real Wooten. A little bit bad, regular divorce dispute, or what?
Seems the tasering was overblown- a small test at the son's request, but an abusive husband? Some cops have that repuation, not always deserved.

11. So much of what we've heard about Wooten
has been filtered through the Palins' eyes, it's been kind of hard to get an accurate fix on him. All of the allegations that the Palins made were investigated by the previous administration, and it was determined that a five-day suspension was sufficient punishment. That's why Walt didn't want to get involved in anything further - it had already been adjudicated. The Palins have only brought up two additional "incidents" since Sarah has been governor, one involving using his trooper vehicle to drop of his kids at school, which was approved by his supervisor, and the snowmachining while on worker's comp, which was apparently approved by his doctor.

Monegan has stated that Wooten may have had some judgment errors earlier and should probably be supervised carefully, but it seems that in recent times, at least, he's been doing everything right. From what I can gather, Molly wants to restrict Mike's access to his children, and so the effort has been made to destroy his career, reduce his earning power, so that she would have more of a financial claim regarding custody.

It's also clear that all of the complaint against Wooten came from the Palin/Heath family, and some of the incidents they themselves were involved in -- i.e., the illegal moose which apparently the whole family enjoyed chowing down on.

10. Thanks for that info
So he basically can sue her for trashing his reputation.
Good...I hope he prevails.
Sounds like anyone that has ever crossed McWolfKiller has been shaking in their boots because of her vindictiveness.
Maybe all that will change now that the onion is being peeled.
Man, she's a real piece of work. :puke:

6. She's a petty, vindictive individual with too much power.
Monegan tells the story in the interview of a time when she was supposed to come to a celebration for the state troopers - kind of like a general saluting the troops for their sacrifices. Everyone was very excited that the governor was coming and they were looking forward to being acknowledged for their service.

Monegan sent Palin an email with his remarks so she could review them and then he dropped a poster off at the governor's office - one used by the organization to promote the state troopers - depicting a trooper saluting the flag standing with two other troopers. Unbeknownest to him, Wooten was one of the 3 troopers in the photo (he had never met Wooten). He says he dropped it by the office because he thought it would inspire the governor in crafting her remarks. When he got back to his office, he received a phone call from one of Palin's staff berating him for bringing the governor a poster with Wooten's image on it. As a result, Palin cancelled her appearance at the event, greatly disappointing the state troopers and their families. All because she felt like Monegan had deliberately tried to provoke her by leaving this poster at her office. A poster that the state trooper organization had used prior to her becoming governor.

She took her anger at Monegan out on all the troopers and refused to honor their service and sacrifice because she's a petty, mean, power-abusing politician. Typical repug for you.

8. That summarizes it nicely.

The Palins have made a big deal about this poster, as if Monegan sent it to her on purpose to antagonize her. It's apparent from Walt's recounting of this incident that nothing could have been further from the truth.

I should also mention that the lawyer representing Walt, Jeff Feldman, like Steve Branchflower, who conducted the legislative investigation, and Tim Petumenos, who is conducting the Personnel Board investigation, is a very good, well-respected local attorney. I think Sarah's going to end up in a lot of trouble over this.

"ETHICS: Investigator hasn't said who else may be under scrutiny."

"The state Personnel Board investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of Walt Monegan has broadened to include other ethics complaints against the governor and examination of actions by other state employees, according to the independent counsel handling the case.

The investigator, Tim Petumenos, did not say who else is under scrutiny. But in two recent letters describing his inquiry, he cited the consolidation of complaints and the involvement of other officials as a reason for not going along with Palin's request to make the examination of her activities more public.

Two other ethics complaints involving Palin are known. One, by activist Andree McLeod, alleges that state hiring practices were circumvented for a Palin supporter. The case is not related to Monegan's firing. The other, by the Public Safety Employees Association, alleges that trooper Mike Wooten's personnel file was illegally breached by state officials.

John Cyr, the PSEA executive director, said Monday the union plans to amend its complaint to be sure the board investigates "harassment" of Wooten as well.

Petumenos has not spoken to the press, in keeping with the secrecy of the state process. But he gave a rough description of the investigation's course in two letters to an Anchorage attorney threatening a lawsuit over Palin's effort to waive confidentiality."
