Any Graphic Artists Out there?
The Kerry campaign just repeats ad nauseum that Bush has "record deficits". But I suspect that probably has no impact on voters. It's too abstract. The Kerry campaign or e-mail chain letter senders need a stunning visual aid such as this: http://www.crunchweb.net/87billion/ Think of how this would shock voters about Bush's fiscal irresponsibility.

According to the site above, if $87 billion can cover a American football field 55 feet in $1.00 bills the 675 BILLION Bush deficit would a football with 425 FEET of $1.00 bills.

Can anyone make this graphic?

If you like this idea help push for it at the Kerry Forum http://forum.johnkerry.com/index.php?showtopic=67680

SOURCES:
Go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2005/tables.html

Scroll down to Table S–12. Budget Summary by Category then to the On-budget deficit line. Under the FY04 column the on-budget deficit is -675 BILLION. There's a 154 Billion off-budget surplus that is often deducted from the on-budget numbers making the unified deficit appear to be 521. That is the total you see in Table 1. But that 154 Billion is being borrowed and has to be repaid. It can only be repaid from on-budget revenues.

In FY00 Clinton had an on-budget SURPLUS of 86.6 BILLION. That's a 762 BILLION difference just for FY04.

1. Think of the power of 10-15 second ads.........
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 11:07 PM by ulTRAX
So if $87 billion over an American football field is 55 feet high in $1.00 bills and the 675 Billion Bush Deficit is would cover a football field 425' deep.... just think of some 10 second ads targeted at various sporting events. I got the math wrong at the Kerry Forum and thought the 1200' stack would cover a baseball diamond. On finding my error, a baseball diamond would actually be covered with a stack of $1.00 bills some 3000+ feet tall. Imagine a Photoshop graphic super-imposing this in the various baseball stadiums across the US!

After debating sub-genius Rightists for years, I don't believe most know the difference between a million, a billion, and a trillion. And who can comprehend what a billion is? Such visual aids might shock the hell out of the brainless.

2. WHAT ABOUT THE 1.6 TRILLION BUSH DEBT?
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 07:47 PM by ulTRAX
Of course this visual technique can also be done with the total amount of debt Bush ran up since he came to office.

At http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/cgi-bin/cg...~www/opdpen.cgi is a national debt calculator.
On 9-2-04 the national debt was $7,365,716,545,609.45
on 1-22-01 the national debt was $5,728,195,796,181.5

Bush has added some 1637 BILLION to the debt. If my math is correct... and it's often not.... this would cover a football field with $1.00 bills to a height of over 1300 FEET!!!!!!!

Imagine this ad..... KERRY: "Bush ran in 2000 promising a balanced budget and to protect the hard won Clinton Surplus. Instead Bush has given our children this bill to pay. <camera pulls away to show a well known football stadium with a 1300' tower of cash piling up until it towers above the field... spectators inside the stadium look up and gawk in disbelief, the pilot of the blimp makes an evasive move to avoid hitting the skyscraper of cash.> KERRY: "Bush says he knows where he wants to lead the nation. But do we REALLY want to go there?"

The beauty of this approach is Bush can't run from his disastrous budget numbers. Kerry SHOULD own the budget issue but he's too abstract referring only to "record deficits". WTF does that mean to Joe Six Pack?

3. Very good.
I can see how that would be a great ad. If I only had the skills to produce that. There are lots of artists who could make a fairly realistic animation of that, in a short time.

Now if Kerry would spend his money doing something other than sending me nice glossy photos of he and Edwards, he would have enough money to pay for it.
