Can She prove her claims?
I know nothing about Kitty Kelly. Does she usually back up her claims in other books with solid proof? Or even almost solid proof? How factual is she?

1. The Shrimp Boat Liars never backed up their claims with proof.
Apparently, proof and evidence doesn't really matter.

3. No in fact it seems that the less the evidence supports the claims
the better the media likes it.

2. I think she skirts the edges
she claims to document everything, but her documentation is often nothing more than notes or a tape recording of somebody making accusations.

So she CAN document that "somebody says Bush eats babies" but she can't document the claim itself.

That being said, she has written some pretty scandalous stuff about the Reagans, the British Royal Family, Frank Sinatra and others, and none of these powerful people have ever been able to sue her for libel. So who knows?

6. Any info out there about any attempts from Bushco to stop her
book?

If so, we need to be on that now. Before the book comes out.

4. where are the guy's that were in bush's national guard unit.
surely some of them will step forward and say that bush was at his post. if not why aren't we on this, why not some commercials about all of these bombings and hijackings with bush at the end saying "we're safer for attacking iraq"

5. And why would we need proof ?
I don't think personal attacks are in any way a good way to win this election, whether it is about hypocrisy or gayness...

This book might be a guilty pleasure for many (me included :)) but the gossip doesn't really matter, and should be ignored by any campaigner.

What really counts, is that Smirky's campaign against gays is an insult to the enlightened spirits who wrote the US Constitution, that gay marriage does not in any way attack straight marriage, that the words "War on Terror" are a scam and should never be used by any thinking person, etc.

What counts is to debunk the myths propagated by the Rove machine, and point out that discrimination and pre-emptive wars, are an insult to reason, and that Nature has given women the right to choose, because their bodies is always theirs no matter what. To punish women for exercising their Nature given right is a crime against Humanity. What would be better, is to make their lives so good that they don't ever need to resort to abortion.

Kitty Kelley is just a naughty gossiper. I am sure a lot of her claims are true, but the ones that are not public knowledge will probably never be proven one way or the other, and who cares. GWB is a hypocrit, anyone who doesn't know that by now needs to seriously wake up, and even if he is not gay at all, still doesn't justify his policies toward gays.

11. Dirt has always worked in politics and personal attacks work
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 03:01 PM by saracat
very well thank you. You must not have been paying attention to the last several elections. Mike Dukakis and John McCain could certainly attest to the fact that personal attacks destroyed them ,as could Jimmy Carter and Walter mondale and George McGovern as well as Gary Hart. And attacks should NEVER be "ignored by the campaigner". The candidate ignores gossip, about either himself or his rival at his peril. Gore and Dukakis both ignored all attacks, dealt with the issues, and stayed above the fray. Look what it got them. And look what it got us. Bush. Americans are stupid for the most part and can relate only to gossip and sound bites. It is about time we gave them some. We need to win and we should hurl as much mud as necessarry to do it.They will. The difference is,our talking points/rumours will be true!

8. I've always found her long on innuendo and insinuation
and a little short on facts and documentation. However, she's never been sued successfully.

I'm one of those boring people who prefers a well documented, carefully researched biography. I'll probably miss this one for the same reason I missed Idiot's authorized biography. You know, the one he had to read to find out what he did...

Kitty Kelly is an entertaining read. She's got a light touch and a breezy style. If you're looking for entertainment, go for it.

9. Yeah--but her books always sell. . .
I'm betting this gets a lot of press coverage. If it doesn't, it will be the first time in a long time that a Kitty Kelly book hasn't gotten a lot of PR.

10. I am not terribly interested in reading her book. My
question was to help me prepare for what may come when the book is released.

Oh well, I have already sworn off cable news, so I guess it won't impact me. Unless, of course I read on DU that some repug is getting his butt kicked on some cable news show. That I will watch, for entertainment value.

12. I think this specific diversion may help Bush.....
Sort of like saying he likes to bite the heads off bats... People will discount all charges against Bush if they perceive that one is too far out to believe...
