Sometimes life imitates art. This is one of those cases. Look at how prescient the creators of the television series Batman wound up being this many years later. Tell me this isn't exactly John McCain's tactics, right down to the "my friends" reference at 1:09 in the video:

"shillelagh and refers to a short, gnarled, very hard club usually made from the roots of a large tree. They usually have a knobbed head and double as a walking stick.
