Todd Palin to campaign for McCain in northern Minnesota

http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/30866884.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUF

The husband of Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will visit northwestern Minnesota this week.

John McCain's Minnesota campaign says Todd Palin is expected to speak with voters and outdoors enthusiasts in Duluth, Grand Rapids and Bemidji on Thursday. He'll then visit Thief River Falls and Moorhead on Friday.

Palin will tour the state with his snowmobile racing partner Scott Davis, who's a native of Grand Rapids.

The McCain campaign has been trying to gain ground in northeastern Minnesota, which has traditionally supported Democrats. The campaign has held several "Sportsmen for McCain-Palin" events in the area to appeal to outdoors enthusiasts.

3. This cracks me up.
Minnesota has one of the, if not the, highest voter turnouts in the nation, and is strongly Democrat. The county Duluth is in is one of the bluest in the state. If they're trying to gain ground in "northeastern Minnesota," maybe they shouldn't be spending time in Bemidji, Thief River Falls and Moorhead! Oh, that's right -- he probably knows that the Iron Range is true blue. What a complete and utter joke. TAKE IT HOME, TODD; IT DOESN'T PLAY HERE.

6. Obama is going to take Minnesota by 10 or more and carry Franken in with him
I remember reading in Wellstone's book that there was a 70% turnout on election day in 1996, which nationally had one of the lowest voter turnout rates in history. The polls are measuring "likely voters" which don't count all of the new voters that Obama has registered. If there's any state where those new voters will have an impact, it's Minnesota.

16. I've never heard him speak either.
I've only seen him lurking at rallies, waving to adoring fans as he's exiting an airplane, and shaking hands after debates.

10. The curious part to me is
He then has more freedom to speak publicly than his wife. How many nonpartisan crowds has she spoken before? Lieberman has been at her side in front of partisan crowds in safe districts so. . .what gives?

15. I saw a clip of him speaking
and the guy has no business making public speeches. All he did in the clip I saw was read what was in front of him and he had to stop mid-sentence to stay on track. This is a lame attempt on McCain's part and will do nothing more than stoke the base that are already voting McCain anyway. Too funny.

18. If I was in the area i would go just to make videos for youtube!
But the way their rabid crowds are, seeing a black guy dying of laughter and video taping the idiot with the mic might have people calling me a terrorist and shouting 'usa' at me non stop. :)
