I don't mean old as in age, but the old McCain who seemed to care more. I wish he'd turn to Obama and apologize for how his campaign has jeopardized Obama's safety even more than it already is and then turn to the camera and tell his followers that Barack Obama is a decent man, a father and Senator, an American who cares about this country as much as he himself does and is not a terrorist. I think at this point that if it costs him the election, he will at least have done the right thing to keep this country from going any further down the path to another Civil War.

I'm on the ground in a southern redneck racist area and it needs to chill soon or it's not going to be good.

1. Does McCain have peeps? What does an old man that walks like a T-Rex have?

2. I read where he told someone that the Keating Five ordeal was more
difficult for him than his stint as a POW, saying that he at least had his dignity when he was released from Viet Nam - but not so the K5 debacle.

I was wondering how his dignity is holding up these days, because he's really gotten smarmy in his attacks against Barack.

4. It's as though he's so caught up in it, he believes the lies and the Republican Lines.
I guess the fact that he corrected the "Obama is an Arab" lady is why I have some hope for him. He has to get better, if he gets worse or lets his followers get worse then I really do worry about our volunteers who are canvassing in this area. I had a young lady come in the other day, she wanted a bumper sticker and said in a very worried voice "I hope no one does something to me or my car if I put this on it, I'll just start praying over it". She's black and young and it's a shame (understatement) that she has this concern in this day and age. We should be contacting papers, tv stations, and campaigns, to tell them to stop this madness!!

7. I'm not entirely convinced that his comment to the "Arab Lady" was
heartfelt because he knew it was the right thing to do. I'm suspicious they were trying to staunch the backlash regarding the other instances (at Palin's rallies) that ended up hurting him. In other words, I'm suspicious he only defended Obama because that was best for him, politically.

3. Like he did when he was in Minnesota?
I never doubted for a moment the the questions were planted and his responses rehearsed and insincere. Though it's interesting that he's willing to make his supporters all look like bigoted idiots so he can play the calm, rational statesman. It's a pity they're too stupid to figure out how he's using them now - and he's apparently too stupid to figure out that his supporters behavior still makes him look bad to anyone with half a brain.

6. Isn't he being used, too? I see him as part of a being used cycle and hope he'll step out of it and
do his own thing.
