69. Cut her some slack.
I'm sure the last thing she expected was to be talking to one of the two men who might be our next President... or to have her picture spread all across the world while her body language is examined by people who've never met her. I can understand if she's a little uncomfortable with all the sudden attention.

78. Theres some video
on our local Toledo Channel 11 News website (http://www.wtol.com/global/story.asp?s=9167018) that may show otherwise, she looked kinda shocked when he was at her door, and she shook his hand and looked pretty surprised. I don't know if the pics just show her listening to him or what, but I don't think it was out of disrespect.

104. But in my (admittedly limited) experience with people in Holland,
I think of it as pretty rightwing-leaning. Those strawberry farmers tend to go conservative, I think. It's got a reputation as a Joe Six-pack kind of area.

52. Ohio visit
I love this and Obama is the one. I haven't posted anything in quite a while but what scares the crap out of me when he's out like this (and, probably Michelle as well) is his exposure. I'm not a religious person but I pray that Obama has a long natural life.

I don't know what I'd do if Barack Obama showed up on my doorstep.

I'd be torn between feeling thrilled ... and mortified by my messy front porch.

Great pics!

70. Wonderful pics!
Thanks so much for sharing these terrific photos--next best thing to being there. You can almost feel the excitement in the neighborhood. Especially loved the one where Sen. Obama is petting the two pooches (I'm an unabashed dog lover) and the last photo, of the little boy giving him a high five, and the other little boy looking on...truly a moving moment. Hope the world will be a better place for those youngsters, with President Obama!!!

77. What REALLY impresses me
is the joy in his eyes. This isn't JUST a photo op, or part of the campaign, connecting with people is WHO HE IS! He LOVES doing this, getting out there, chatting with people, just getting to know a little bit about them. He's.......REAL. You know, the really decent neighbor that'll loan you his snowblower after a nasty storm, the guy that'll happily water your lawn when you're on vacation and take in the mail, the guy that'll give you a lift to pick up your car at the shop, the guy you know you can count on when things might get a little rough.
I BELIEVE IN BARACK OBAMA!!!!
WE BELIEVE IN BARACK OBAMA!!!!
AND WE'RE GONNA TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK FOR ALL THE GOOD, DECENT HARD WORKING AMERICANS ON NOVEMBER 4TH!!!!!!!!
To quote from every Happy madison movie:
"We can dooo it!"

Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 08:30 AM by awoke_in_2003
although they are a bit dressed down. 3rd pic, center of pic, the two with jackets and dark glasses. Pic 6, African American with dark glasses. Pic 7, right side, facing away from Obama (watching crowd). Pic 11, two with glasses (the one without jacket probably has a waistband holster). All of the above seem very serious, while others have looks of happiness or at least curiosity.

on edit: pic 10 is a possibility, although you usually don't see Secret Service without sunglasses (in the pic, behind Obama's shoulder, grey jacket and pants). Does have the serious look, though.

82. Never in my lifetime have I felt so dedicated to a politician.
He inspires such loyalty from me, and this is why. He's a truly a good man, a man of the people, who's running because he wants to implement change and help people, not because he wants to go down in the history books as President (see: McCain, John).

Damn.

87. Awesome for Ohio!!! I just wish Tennessee was in play!
What I wouldn't give to meet him again! I can't aptly put into words how down to earth he is in person. I saw him in Lebanon, Virginia - just a short drive over the border and the night the "lipstick on a pig" comment made big news. I was able to meet him after the speech for a few minutes and it was like I was the only guy in the room when he was talking to me - just like talking to an old friend.
